The Aquarius sign is a very original and independent sign. People born under this sign are usually pretty progressive in their thoughts, actions, and lifestyles. This sign is most likely to do humanitarian work because they are very curious and enjoy using what they learn to help others and the world around them.

The Aquarius sign is also a very emotional sign and tends to lead and make decisions from an emotional place, which can work in their favor or not, depending on the situation. The Aquarius sign definitely enjoys a good cry and won't shy away from entertainment that can bring a tear to their eyes. Taking all of that into consideration, here are a few movies that will surely make an Aquarius cry, and a couple that definitely won't.

Cry: The Theory Of Everything (2014)

The Aquarius sign is not only very independent, but they are also very intelligent, which makes them free-thinkers and innovators. A lot of Aquarius people have a natural ability to come up with new ideas and thoughts that spread like wildfire and they easily can become the voice for a movement or a group or people or that new idea. People born under the Aquarius sign will definitely find someone like Stephen Hawking inspiring and his story not only will motivate them, but it's also heartbreaking in a lot of ways.

Won't: P.S. I Love You (2007)

PS I Love You

The Aquarius sign needs substance in their entertainment. The conventional romantic comedies or tear-jerkers probably won't appeal to most people born under this sign because they like to see different things from different perspectives. A movie like the drama, P.S. I Love You, is probably too generic for an Aquarius to appreciate. Though the story is definitely emotional, it won't get the reaction it's looking for from an Aquarius.

Cry: Room (2015)

Brie Larson - Room

Brie Larson's character in the critically acclaimed drama, Room, is one that Aquarius people will be inspired to see. In this film, which Larson won an Academy Award for her performance in, Brie Larson plays Ma, a girl who was abducted as a teenager and held hostage by her captor for many years.

During her captivity, Ma has a child and as the child gets older, she realizes she needs to get them out of where they are and back to a normal life. Aquarius people will be able to appreciate Ma's bravery and independence and perseverance throughout this film.

Won't: The Notebook (2004)

Allie And Noah

This is another romantic drama that will probably make most Aquarius roll their eyes, not cry. The film, when it was first released, was a go-to tearjerker for most people, but the predictability of the somewhat cheesy storyline is going to make it a difficult film for an Aquarius to appreciate or relate to it at all. It also doesn't help that Nicholas Sparks, the author of the book this story is based on, has made so many similar movies since the success of The Notebook, making this story even more unoriginal.

Cry: Inside Out (2015)

Sadness, Fear, Anger, Disgust, and Joy at the controls

The Aquarius sign loves learning new things and seeing things from a different perspective. They also love being able to put words to things they intuitively know and help them understand their emotions.

The Aquarius sign is one constantly learning about themselves, which is why they will love Pixar's Inside Out. Not only will they love this film, but all of the emotional moments and self discovery that happens in it will definitely make them cry happy tears.

Won't: Marriage Story (2019)

Netflix's Marriage Story is going to be a difficult movie for most Aquarius people to sit through. The Aquarius sign isn't quick to anger and are usually turned off by other signs who do rely on that emotion to communicate. This film, by Noah Baumbach, starring Scarlett Johansson and Adam Driver, feels more like a man trying to justify his divorce through his art and less like an honest two-sided depiction of what happens when a marriage falls apart.

Cry: Good Will Hunting (1997)

Robin Williams' character Sean Maguire in the critically acclaimed film, Good Will Huntingcould very well be an Aquarius.

This character is very empathic and a great listener and also offers some really brilliant ideas, advice, and ways to look at life that anybody watching this movie can get a lot from, especially an Aquarius who is so open to receiving that kind of information. People born under the Aquarius sign will also tear up over Will's transformation throughout the film.

Won't: Beaches (1988)

This movie might be a little too cliche for people born under the Aquarius sign to find entertaining or emotional. This classic '80s drama stars Better Midler and Barbara Hershey and tells the story of two lifelong friends and how their relationship is cut short when one of them becomes ill. It's another predictable tearjerker that will leave more Aquarius feeling uninterested than wanting to cry.

Cry: Steel Magnolias (1989)

The cast of Steel Magnolias hugging

This '80s classic is one that will probably bring a tear to most Aquarian's eyes solely because Sally Field is so brilliant and heartbreaking in her performance. Sally Field plays a mother who loses her daughter, played by Julia Roberts, and there's one particular scene that will make just about anybody cry. People born under the Aquarius sign will feel even more watching this performance because they are so empathetic and have an ability to connect with others through their emotions.

Won't: Stepmom (1998)

Susan Sarandon and Julia Roberts in Stepmom

The Aquarius sign probably won't find this film, starring Julia Roberts and Susan Sarandon, as sad as it was made to be. One thing an Aquarius doesn't like is being told what to think or feel and this film really pushes its audience to have strong emotions as they're watching it. It was clearly written to be a tearjerker and for that reason alone, people born under the Aquarius sign won't find it very sad and most likely, won't even make it to the end of the film.
