Next week, Sackboy: A Big Adventure will allow players to dress their Sack-character as Selene from Housemarque's PS5 title, Returnal, thanks to a brand-new DLC costume. Sackboy's latest outing came to both PS4 and PS5 in November 2020, bringing everyone's favorite stitched character back into the fold. Returnal launched exclusively on PS5 last month, dropping players onto a hostile alien planet for a mind-bending adventure.
Sackboy: A Big Adventure has featured a few other PlayStation-based costumes in the past. The title's Digital Deluxe and Special Editions specifically gave players access to outfits based on Days Gone's Deacon St. John, Sam Porter Bridges of Death Stranding fame, Detroit: Become Human's Connor, and Jin Sakai from Ghost of Tsushima. Roughly six months after Sackboy's return, yet another PlayStation protagonist is gearing up for their debut in A Big Adventure.
According to PlayStation Europe, a Returnal costume styled after ASTRA Scout Selene will make its way to Sackboy: A Big Adventure on May 26. In addition to a "sweet costume," A Big Adventure players can also look forward to snagging an emote through the PlayStation Store. As of writing, there is no word on how much the Returnal content will cost. Check out the PlayStation Europe announcement post in the tweet linked below, complete with a look at Sack-Selene:
It's cool to see Selene getting some love in other PlayStation franchises. Who knows where else she may pop up in the future? Perhaps a Returnal skin for Ghost of Tsushima: Legends will eventually be on the cards, akin to the PlayStation-centric outfits that were added to the multiplayer suite last year? Only time will tell.
Returnal launched on PS5 late last month to generally favorable reviews from critics. Player reception, on the other hand, came across as a bit more mixed. Much of the criticism stemmed from the rogue-lite's myriad glitches and a crashing error that was known to hinder in-game progress. The lack of an autosave state didn't go over well, either. While Housemarque is aware of the innumerable requests for an updated save system, the studio recently admitted that it remains unsure of how to properly implement such a feature in Returnal.
Sackboy: A Big Adventure is out now on PS4 and PS5, while Returnal is available exclusively on PS5.
