Deadpool star Ryan Reynolds will soon have his own street named after him in Canada’s capital city. Reynolds was born and raised in Canada and started his acting career there with the Nickelodeon series Fifteen. Since then, Reynolds has continued to show his love and appreciation for his home country, becoming one of Canada’s most renowned and recognized actors.

The Canadian star and his wife, Blake Lively, are both known for their committed work with various charitable organizations over the years. Back in 2019, Lively and Reynolds donated $1 million to a Chicago non-profit known as the Young Center for Immigrant Children’s Rights. Since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, the two stars have donated over $1 million to Feeding America and Food Banks Canada, continuing to show their support for the less fortunate during these tumultuous times.

On Twitter, Mayor Jim Watson is now sharing the news of the national recognition of Reynolds as they honor him in Canada by having a capital city street named after him, “Ryan Reynolds Way.” Although Reynolds was raised in Vancouver for the majority of his life, he had briefly spent part of his youth in Vanier, Ottawa. Reynolds generously donated to the local charities in his old hometown to fight hunger during the ongoing pandemic. In recognition of his efforts, the mayor tweeted, “It’s clear that Ottawa has a special place in Ryan’s heart.” In a playful response, Reynolds jokingly says that he has now changed his daughter’s name to “Ottawa.” Check out the wholesome interaction below:

Both Reynolds and his wife continue to make charitable contributions to their communities, engaging in philanthropy to help provide aid for people in need, particularly offering their support to Canada as they’ve previously teamed up with Ottawa Public Health to encourage vaccinations. Recently, Reynolds raised over $850,000 through an ugly sweater campaign for the SickKids Foundation, which supports Toronto’s Hospital for Sick Children. Last year, Lively and Reynolds donated $250,000 to a Canadian group known as Influence Mentoring, which offers support for Indigenous students to help eliminate educational and employment gaps.

With Reynolds’ continuous support and love for Canada constantly on display through humanitarian efforts, it comes as no surprise for his home country to commemorate his astounding achievements. Last year, Reynolds was also awarded the 2021 General’s Performing Arts Award in Canada, recognizing his past performances as one of Canada’s most beloved and widely known actors. While the details of when the street sign will be placed have not been specified, it is clear a clear indicator of Canada’s and Reynolds' mutual love for each other.
