Match.com's Satan returns in a new ad for Mint Mobile, a phone service company co-owned by actor Ryan Reynolds. The Satan character first appeared in a Match.com ad campaign in December 2020 produced by Reynold's production company Maximum Effort. The commercials, which have received millions of views on YouTube, revolve around the running gag that Satan and 2020 are a match made in hell. The first Satan match commercial features a reference to Deadpool when the couple is seen watching in an empty movie theater.

Reynold's career saw a few flops before it took off in 2017 with Deadpool. 2011's Green Lantern was intended to be the beginning of a major franchise but ended up being a massive commercial and critical flop, which Reynolds would be the first to acknowledge. A few years later, R.I.P.D was viewed as another potential star-making role for Reynolds, but the film also fizzled out at the box office. It was not until Deadpool in 2017 that Reynolds broke out as the star he is known as today with stakes in various business ventures, such as Aviation Gin, Mint Mobile, and Match Group.

Now, in a Mint Mobile commercial, Match.com's Satan is returning as an employee of "Big Wireless," a generic cell service provider that represents Mint's more established competitors on the market. The ad pokes fun at these companies' poor customer service, high prices, hidden fees, and painfully long contracts. Reynolds tweeted out the commercial, joking, "This guy’s on a hot streak." The new ad begins, "Finding love on Match inspired me to look for other ways to be happy," which signifies a connected universe of sorts between the Match and Mint Mobile ads. In typical superhero fashion, Reynolds made his first appearance as Deadpool in X-Men Origins: Wolverine. This version of the character was not very well received, as his mouth was sewn shut and was without his now-iconic red-and-black costume. In the R-rated Deadpool, Reynolds brought what many believed to be the correct version of the character to life.

Reynold's next film will be Free Guy, a comedy by director Shawn Levy. Reynolds stars as an everyday bank teller named Guy revealed to be a non-playable character in an open-world video game. Reynolds found massive success with Deadpool, which undoubtedly led to his numerous business ventures in Match and Mint Mobile, and he will look to build upon that success with Free Guy.
