In the lead-up to Welcome to Wrexham season 2 and Deadpool 3, the rivalry between Hugh Jackman and Ryan Reynolds is only getting more heated. In November 2020, it was announced that Reynolds was teaming up with Rob McElhenney to purchase and lead Wrexham AFC, a soccer club in Wales. The two actors even put together a documentary series following their journey, which they called Welcome to Wrexham.

Now, Reynold's rival, Hugh Jackman, admits that he considered buying Wrexham's rivals to further his feud with Reynolds. With Welcome to Wrexham season 2 having been officially announced, Jackman happily reveals the offers he received, as he told Sunday with Laura Kuenssberg in an interview. Check out his quote below via ComicBook.com:

"I will admit to you that when Ryan bought that team, I did get more than one offer from rivals to that team for £1 to come in as a co-owner. And it did seriously tempt me. I think if I really want to stick it to Ryan Reynolds, then if Wrexham get to play Norwich, because obviously there's a different level here, I think it'd be best if I was heading in the winner."

A History Of Reynolds' and Jackman's Rivalry

The feud between Reynolds and Jackman didn't start with Welcome to Wrexham. While there have many conflicts between actors over the years that ravaged Hollywood, Jackman and Reynolds have a long-standing friendship that they express through joking insults. Having met on the X-Men Origins: Wolverine set, the two quickly began playing off each other about Reynolds' relationship with his then-wife Scarlett Johansson, who is a close friend to Jackman.

The status of their rivalry only grew due to the in-universe feud between Deadpool and Wolverine, their respective characters. From there, they expressed it across interviews, movies, and social media, as each attempted to escalate the long-running joke. Now, it has grown from the Fox X-Men universe to Welcome to Wrexham.

With Deadpool 3 on the way, the rivalry will only continue to escalate as Reynold's Deadpool officially welcomes Jackman's Wolverine into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. While the two managed a temporary truce in 2020 due to needing a moment of levity during the COVID-19 pandemic, Jackman and Reynolds have returned to form since, and it appears their rivalry could spread to Reynolds' Welcome to Wrexham. With Deadpool 3 officially releasing in 2024, their rivalry will have to go on for at least another year.
