Ryan Reynolds' The Adam Project sets an all-time record for Netflix's Top 10. The Adam Project focuses on a time-traveling pilot (Reynolds), who goes back in time to save his missing wife, meeting up with his younger self and his father, who team up to stop the threat of someone altering the timeline to suit their own means. The film is directed by Shawn Levy (Free Guy) and stars Reynolds, Mark Ruffalo, Jennifer Garner, Zoe Saldana, Catherine Keener, and Walker Scobell.

The film marks the third Netflix original for Reynolds, who previously starred in director Michael Bay's head-spinning action yarn 6 Underground, as well as Rawson Marshall Thurber's Red Notice with Dwayne Johnson and Gal Gadot. Red Notice went on to become a massive hit for the streamer, which sits in the number one spot for all-time original films with 364 million hours viewed in the first 28 days of release. Reynolds, Johnson, Gadot, and Thurber are expected to return for two back-to-back sequels for Red Notice, which further showcases the success of the franchise.

Netflix has now released their updated roster of Top 1os with Reynolds' The Adam Project entering the all-time list in the number seven spot, making it the third original film for the actor to make the list. It joins Red Notice and 6 Underground (sitting at number nine) and could continue to move up. Reynolds is the only actor to have three films on Netflix's all-time top 10 list. Speaking to THR, Levy expressed his happiness over the milestone, saying:

I’m not going to be shy. To see both Adam Project and Free Guy connect in such a globally commercial way is really meaningful to Ryan and I. I don’t make niche programming. I make mainstream programming. And to have both Adam Project and Stranger Things in the upper echelon of the most-watching programming on Netflix is a point of pride.

Levy also called to attention that The Adam Project has benefited greatly from those who are coming back for seconds, saying, "The way that it is being rewatched and being kept alive on social media with such sustained energy is a joyous surprise." The director is set to reteam with Reynolds on the first MCU installment of Deadpool with Deadpool 3, as well as a sequel to their hit Free Guy. In addition to those projects, Levy has also stated that he'd love to make a "bromance" movie with his Real Steel star Hugh Jackman and Reynolds, although he isn't sure what that will be just yet.

Levy is also the producer of Stranger Things for Netflix, making him a powerhouse for the streamer. Reynolds has had mixed results at the theatrical box office, with the Deadpool franchise, Free Guy, and comedies like The Proposal or Detective Pikachu being a better fit than previous efforts. However, Reynolds has found sure footing with Netflix, which serves his action/comedy persona exceptionally and allows audiences to find his work without the staggering competition that theatrical can sometimes bring with timing and an overcrowded box office. Still, Reynolds can have stellar box office draw when he's playing in the right genres and franchises, and his stock continues to rise theatrically and in streaming. Reynolds will next appear in the musical comedy Spirited with Will Ferrell later this year.
