Chandler Riggs, best known for playing Carl Grimes on The Walking Dead, is set to voice Superman/Clark Kent in the upcoming RWBY/Justice League film. RWBY is an American anime-influenced web series, created by the late Monty Oum in 2013. After the series' pilot aired in July 2013, RWBY became a viral sensation, with a critically acclaimed soundtrack and animation style. The show is currently about to enter season 9, which is expected to premiere in early 2023. In July, it was announced that the first-ever RWBY film was in production, and would be a crossover with DC's Justice League. The film will be animated and produced by the RWBY team in partnership with Warner Bros. Animation and Warner Bros. Home Entertainment. In a post on Twitter, Riggs announces that he will be voicing Superman/Clark Kent in the RWBY/Justice League crossover film, Justice League x RWBY: Super Heroes and Huntsmen. Riggs says that he began working on the project last year, but was only able to announce his involvement with it recently. Though there is no firm release date for the film yet, Riggs also says that the film will be premiering "this spring," giving an estimated premiere date. What We Know About the RWBY Movie

RWBY volume 5 episode 14

Alongside Riggs' Superman, other big names have been announced (via The Hollywood Reporter) to play the rest of the Justice League. Disney's Phineas and Ferb star David Errigo Jr. will voice The Flash/Barry Allen, The Fault in Our Stars and Death Note alum Nat Wolff is set to voice Batman/Bruce Wayne, and Big Sky star Natalie Alyn Lind will voice Wonder Woman/Diana Prince. The same voice cast for the RWBY series will also return for the film, including Lindsay Jones (Ruby), Kara Eberle (Weiss), Arryn Zech (Blake), and Barbara Dunkelman (Yang). DC Comics writer Meghan Fitzmartin will write the film's script, and RWBY showrunner Kerry Shawcross is set to direct.

Justice League x RWBY: Super Heroes and Huntsmen marks Riggs' first foray into voice acting, aside for a brief cameo as Carl Grimes in a 2017 episode of Robot Chicken. Riggs is a vocal fan of many animated series, including Netflix's Arcane and RWBY, and he expresses his excitement in working on the film with "some of the most talented VAs out there." Riggs currently plays a recurring role in the ABC family drama A Million Little Things, but has also gained a large online following as a gaming streamer on Twitch.

While some fans have argued that RWBY's quality has declined in more recent seasons, the series is still massively popular, and the franchise has spawned spinoff series, video games, comic books, and a feature film.Though RWBY is popular particularly among anime fans, Justice League x RWBY: Super Heroes and Huntsmen could introduce comic fans into the series for the first time. This could lead to a new era of success and opportunities for RWBY. Plus, with actors like Riggs attached to the project, the film could be the most successful RWBY property yet.
