Actor Adam Baldwin has taken to social media to criticize Alec Baldwin after the Rust shooting incident, stating that he should have checked the gun before using it. The comments come after last week’s tragic news that cinematographer Halyna Hutchins was killed while filming the upcoming Western movie, Rust, which Alec Baldwin stars in. The film's director, Joel Souza, was also transported to hospital after sustaining injuries during the same incident.

Investigations into the incident are ongoing, however it is understood that Alec Baldwin discharged a prop firearm during a rehearsal, accidentally fatally wounding Hutchins, who was serving as the film's photo director. At the time of the incident, Baldwin was practicing drawing and aiming his gun when it was fired, after being told it was "cold" and did not contain live ammunition. According to the police affidavit, Hutchins was reportedly struck in her midsection and quickly succumbed to the injury. The tragic scenario has been amplified by cries from members of the film industry, like The Suicide Squad director James Gunn, to improve safety conditions on film sets.

Fellow actor Adam Baldwin recently took to Twitter to weigh in on the incident. The Chuck and Firefly actor shared a stream of posts suggesting that Alec Baldwin should be held accountable for Hutchins' death and face legal ramifications. Adam Baldwin argued that Alec Baldwin was "negligent" in not checking the prop gun before he fired it, arguing the Hollywood star was experienced enough after a long film career to do so. Read some of his comments below:

Adam Baldwin continued to lambast Alec Baldwin in follow-up posts, retweeting several additional posts that diminished his involvement in the incident with the caption, "Who pulled the trigger?" However, regardless of Adam Baldwin's comments, law enforcement officials are still analyzing the incident, and no official charges against anyone have been announced yet.

It is important to note again that, although the actors share the same last name, they are not directly related in any way. Adam Baldwin's disapproval of his colleague is also not overly surprising. The actors' political ideologies are on opposite sides of the spectrum, something which is evident on their social media accounts. Regardless, although Adam Baldwin and many others may not agree on who is ultimately to blame for Hutchins' tragic passing on the set of Rust, it is evident that more regulations and caution may be needed when dangerous props are introduced on set. Hopefully, the ongoing investigation into this tragic incident leads to improved safety in the film industry.
