A group of new queens has been introduced as the cast members on RuPaul's Drag Race season 14, and fans didn't particularly like that Maddy Morphosis has been cast as the show's first straight cisgender male. After the season 14 cast was revealed, it was made clear that Maddy was cast on Drag Race as a heterosexual cisgender male contestant. As a result, certain fans are not supporting Ru's decision to cast Maddy.

When Maddy Morphosis was announced as one of the 14 new queens to be competing on the new season of Drag Race, the controversial decision certainly divided the fans and even got some former contestants chiming in. While some fans were supportive of the queen and Ru's decision, a lot of fans are not happy with the casting and were very vocal about this specific casting decision.

According to Cheatsheet, fans started a Reddit thread stating that Maddy's casting is a massive blow to the queer community. These fans are not on board with Drag Race having a straight cisgender male competing on the show. While RuPaul could have introduced other identities within the LGBTQIA+ community, such as more trans queens or drag kings, he chose to cast a straight man on the show instead. In general, fans have had many things to say about it since the reveal.

While fans celebrated the casting of the first AFAB (assigned female at birth) queen who appeared on Drag Race UK season 3 and the first trans male queen during Drag Race season 13, the fans reacted negatively toward this casting decision. Another Redditor commented, "It’s weird for me as a bi person to know that cis straightness is probably going to be talked about meaningfully on the show before bisexuality/pansexuality." Meanwhile, a Twitter user wrote that straight people already take up the vast majority of TV series and movies. But while most of the comments about the casting have been negative, some fans are trying to find the positives in Ru's decision. Another fan stated on social media that Maddy's casting could potentially open up some viewers' minds up about gender and masculinity as a whole.

Even though some fans aren't happy about Maddy's casting, they can still tune in to see her progress throughout the competition. There's a chance she might thrive in the competition or will crumble under the pressure. Fans will just have to tune in when RuPaul's Drag Race season 14 premieres after the holidays to find out.
