The ever-expanding RuPaul's Drag Race franchise is set to have its biggest years ever between 2021 and 2022. The infamous Drag Race season 1 aired all the way back in 2009 on Logo. At the time, RuPaul greeted a total of nine drag performers who had no clue what they were walking into. In many ways, that inaugural season served as a pilot for the overall series.
By the time Mama Ru was back for Drag Race season 2, the blueprint was already being set. Over a decade later, VH1 has just finished airing RuPaul's Drag Race season 13 in the winter and springs months of 2021. However, that's far from being the only Drag Race cycle airing in 2021.
The year was also kicked off with RuPaul's Drag Race UK season 2, and an announcement quickly followed for the All Stars 6 spinoff on Paramount+. Elsewhere in the world, this franchise keeps growing and reaching new audiences over time.
RuPaul's Drag Race UK Season 3
RuPaul's Drag Race UK season 3 is officially premiering on BBC and the WOW Presents Plus streaming service in the fall of 2021. This will be the second UK cycle airing in 2021 due to the fact that the season that had been scheduled for 2020 was delayed by the COVID-19 pandemic.
RuPaul's Drag Race Season 14
As confirmed by VH1, the network has already picked up RuPaul's Drag Race season 14, which is scheduled to air in early 2022. Given that Drag Race season 13 has just finished airing, not much is known about the season 14 cast and release date as of this writing.
RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars 7 (T.B.D.)
Paramount+ is still streaming RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars 6 at the moment, so an official announcement about All Stars 7 has yet to be made. With that said, the All Stars cycles have been on an annual schedule for years now, just like regular US seasons of the show. Therefore, the fans can surely expect some form of an All Stars season in 2022, even if it introduces a new twist to shake things up.
RuPaul's Secret Celebrity Drag Race Season 2
Certain fans were unsure of what to think when RuPaul's Secret Celebrity Drag Race was announced in 2020, but the spin-off was definitely a fun watch for both diehard fans and casual viewers. As a result, Secret Celebrity Drag Race season 2 has been picked up by the network. Alas, it is still unclear if it'll air in 2021 or 2022.
Canada's Drag Race Season 2
The messiest part of Canada's Drag Race season 1 had to do with the judges that were chosen for the show and the decisions they made in regards to the contestants. Nonetheless, the spin-off was still successful enough to justify it getting picked up for season 2. Given how late it is in 2021, it's much more likely that Canada's Drag Race season 2 will premiere sometime in 2022.
Drag Race Thailand Season 3
The Drag Race Thailand fans waited a long time to find out if the oft-forgotten series would get a season 3. Thankfully, production has now officially confirmed that Drag Race Thailand season 3 is happening. With that said, it is likely that the season will only premiere in 2022.
Drag Race Italia Season 1
One of the newest spin-offs in this franchise is Drag Race Italia, which is set to premiere in November 2021. The show will air on Discovery+, and it'll stream on WOW Presents Plus in most other locations around the world.
Drag Race Philippines Season 1
The latest confirmed spin-off is Drag Race Philippines, which will also be on the WOW Presents Plus streaming service in most countries. Not much is known about this upcoming RuPaul's Drag Race series, which will most likely premiere in 2022.
Other Rumored Drag Race Seasons & Spin-Offs
The fans are still waiting for confirmation that RuPaul's Drag Race Down Under season 2 and Drag Race España season 2 will be happening. It is very likely that they will be greenlit in the near future, but the fandom is still waiting for those official announcements.
