While Rune Factory 5 offers players numerous character options for dating and marriage, one of the best NPCs in Rigbarth isn't available to romance. Rune Factory 5, which was recently released for the Nintendo Switch, combines farming and slice-of-life simulation mechanics with JRPG combat and narrative. While the primary story surrounds the monster-hunting organization known as SEED, players will also spend large amounts of time completing quests for a cast of dateable characters, adding depth and emotional commitment to the player's purpose in the town.

While not the main function of the game, dating and marraige in Rune Factory 5 are an important mechanic that many fans enjoy. Like in Stardew Valley or Story of Seasons, players have the ability to meet and date multiple female and male characters, each with certain personality traits and job preferences that help distinguish them from each other. Rune Factory 5 has also added LGBTQA marraige options since its original 2021 release in Japan, allowing players to date any eligible character, regardless of the main character's selected gender.

While each dateable NPC is worth getting to know, many may be disappointed to find that one of the game's best male characters is not on the list of eligible Rune Factory 5 bachelors. Terry, who originally runs the general store, is an older man with brown, wavy hair and an easy going personality. Early in the game, he gives his shop to Misasagi to start a freelance detective agency he runs with his apprentice Cecil. His roguishly handsome design, mixed with his mysterious personality, make him quite appealing, but there is currently no way for Rune Factory 5 players to start a romantic relationship with him.

Rune Factory 5 Should Add DLC To Expand Dateable Characters

Rune Factory 5 Main Cast

While nothing has yet been announced by Marvelous, there is a possibility Rune Factory 5 could receive paid DLC to expand the game's base content. DLC expansions have become increasingly popular with simulation and slice-of-life games, including the Story of Seasons: Pioneers of Olive Town DLC expansions pass which adds further dateable character options. Rune Factory 5 could add a similar expansion pass introducing new dungeons, crops, and dateable characters like Terry to the game.

While players can't romance Terry currently in Rune Factory 5, the mysterious night-owl Ryker could be a good fit for those wanting a charming romance with a laid-back character. While Ryker appears lazy and unmotivated when players first meet him, further encounters reveal an intriguing character with a number of secrets to explore. He is also fairly easy to track down and talk to, making him a good character to regularly seek out and build a relationship with. Thanks to the wealth of interesting character stories in Rune Factory 5, players will have plenty of choices when choosing a date, even if Terry is too busy sleuthing to be interested.
