Runaways: First Season 3 Teaser Confirms December Premiere Date

Runaways Season 3 Story

Marvel's Runaways season 3 will premiere on Hulu in December, and the first teaser trailer shows what's in store. Runaways came to Hulu as part of Marvel TV's ever-expanding reach as the Marvel Cinematic Universe continued to become more popular. But, with Netflix's multiple shows all done and ABC confirming Agents of SHIELD will end with season 7, Hulu and Freeform (with Cloak & Dagger) will soon be all that's left.

After a first season that was light on connectivity to the larger MCU, Runaways season 2 expanded its reach. There was a major reference to Doctor Strange, but the show also was able to still stand on its own. However, the second season ended on a massive cliffhanger that will thankfully be answered. Details on Runaways season 3 have been few and far between, other than the news that Elizabeth Hurley will play Morgan le Fay.

With production well underway, fans of Runaways have been left wondering when the new batch of episodes will arrive. As part of Hulu's presentation at the Television Critics Association's summer press tour, they released the first teaser for season 3 online and confirmed the premiere date. Runaways season 3 will be available starting on Dec. 13. Based on the teaser, troubling times are ahead for the Runaways.

The teaser is brief but does show the Runaways' hideout after an attack. Chase Stein (Gregg Sulkin) is the only one who is still stumbling around, as he spots Karolina Dean (Virginia Gardner) and Nico Minoru (Lyrica Okano) unconscious, Alex Wilder (Rhenzy Feliz) up against a wall, and Molly Hernandez (Allegra Acosta) holding Old Lace in her lap. Molly tells Chase to save Gert who is shown being put in a pod by Pride. The Runaways together and under attack by Pride is sure to get the attention of Runaways fans, but may also not be what it appears.

The last episode of Runaways season 2 had the team split apart and the few details we know about their whereabouts and what lies ahead in season 3 could point to this scene not taking place. Chase and Karolina were captured by the Gibborim and put in chambers, so this could be happening inside of Chase's head and be his worst fears coming to pass. But, this same explanation could be true even if Chase manages to get out of the chamber. This scene may very well be a trick by Morgan le Fay. If neither of these explanations is correct though, then Runaways season 3 will be filled with plenty of twists and turns to get all of the characters to be in this position. Thankfully, we now know we'll find out what is going on with this scene in December.
