One of the many new items added to Disney Dreamlight Valley during its recent "Scar" update is the red and highly valuable precious Gem — the Ruby. Similar to other Gems, Rubies will likely be used as a crafting material needed to make different pieces of furniture or a Quest Item for a quest-related objective. On the other hand, players can sell Rubies for a lucrative sum of 1,000 Star Coins. Of course, 1,000 is not much for late-game Dreamers, but this much profit for a single item is still quite impressive.
Whether for its rarity, value, or crafting practicality in Disney Dreamlight Valley, fans are likely eager to know how to get their hands on this new shiny red Gem. To get started on their search, players must make their way to the Sunlit Plateau, the dry biome that sits to the west of Peaceful Meadows and the Plaza. This area becomes accessible after removing its Night Thorns for 7,000 Dreamlight.
If players are following the quest "Nature & Nurture" in Disney Dreamlight Valley, they will have encountered Scar in the Elephant Graveyard of the Sunlit Plateau. After a short discussion with the villainous lion from The Lion King, players can make their way over the entrance of the Vitalys Mines, located at the mouth of the river.
Finding Rubies in Disney Dreamlight Valley
After entering the Vitalys Mines, they will notice mineral nodes with bright streaks of blue and green. Similar to nodes in other biomes of the Valley, these mining nodes produce Iron Ore. However, they also yield exclusive resources, including Vitalys Crystals, Sapphires, and Rubies. As one might expect, Rubies are a relatively rare Gem and will not drop from every node. Nevertheless, if players persevere and continue mining in the Vitalys Mines, they will eventually find a Ruby in Disney Dreamlight Valley.
Similar to how green fragments will appear on mining nodes with Peridot or yellow shards will protrude out of Topaz nodes, players can find chips of red on mineral nodes in the Vitalys Mines. These serve as a visual indication that the node will grant a guaranteed Ruby Gem drop in Disney Dreamlight Valley. Therefore, players should always keep a close eye out for such nodes when exploring the winding mineshafts of the Plateau cavern. Additionally, Dreamers are advised to bring a Villager with the Mining skill for a chance to increase the yield of Rubies mines from a node.
