The act of finding and catching Rotom makes a return in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl. When it comes to Pokémon remakes, the Diamond and Pearl recreations are the ones that are the closest to the originals. Previous remakes have added new content and tied newer Pokémon into the older regions. However, this seems to be a faithful remake of the original Nintendo DS titles. Meaning, players will explore Sinnoh and its corners to find every one of its colorful and unique Pokémon. Of course, one of the most popular Pokémon to come from this generation is Rotom.

In Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl, Rotom is an Electric/Ghost-type Pokémon. In Pokémon lore, this creature has the ability to take over electronic objects. In Pokémon Platinum, players were introduced to household appliance versions of Rotom. Rotom has several different forms in the series; for example, the Rotom Washing Machine was an Electric/Water-type. Players looking to add this Pokémon to their collection will need to wait until later in the game.

Players will need to head to the Old Chateau to find Rotom in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, located deep within the Eterna Forest. Players will also need to come to this location during nighttime and only after acquiring the National Pokédex. Here's how players can catch Rotom in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl.

Catching Rotom in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl

How To Find (& Catch) Rotom in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl

The Old Chateau will be in the northernmost section of Eterna Forest. After heading inside of the Old Chateau, go upstairs and enter the door in the middle. From here, enter the door down the hall to the left. Upon entering, players will notice a flickering TV. Approach it and select 'Yes' and Rotom will jump out of the TV and attack the player. Rotom should be level 15 during this encounter. Since this is an optional area in the game, players can come back later once they have access to better Poké Balls. Players looking to capture it should aim to have a few Ultra and Great Balls.

Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl's Rotom will also have the levitate ability, making it impossible to attack it with Ground-type moves. Players looking to do less damage to it should use Flying, Steel, Electric, Poison, or Bug-type moves. Rotom will resist these, making it easier to chip down its damage to capture it. Players looking to defeat it can use Ghost or Dark-type moves. It's fairly weak, so this battle shouldn't take too long as this is one of the only instances when players can capture Rotom in the game. After catching Rotom, players will get the Secret Key, which is needed to open the secret Rotom Room inside Eterna City's Galactic Building. Here, players can change Rotom's form by accessing the myriad of appliances available there.
