Last week we reported that Michael Bay had found his top choice to replace Megan Fox in Transformers 3 in a Victoria's Secret model, unknown to the film industry. Geek Week had the scoop that it would be Rosie Huntington-Whiteley and now Deadline is confirming that she's got the role.
When we found out that Megan Fox would not return in Transformers 3, replacement rumors circulated around established actresses like Gemma Arterton but the shortlist came down to Rosie Huntington-Whiteley along with Sarah Wright and Brooklyn Decker. The report continues to inform us that the others were told that the role would go to Huntington-Whiteley so the search is over.
A common criticism of Megan Fox in the first two Transformers movies was in regards to her acting skills, having no major film experience prior to working for Bay. To replace her with another actress based solely on looks doesn't seem like the right move if they're hoping to swing some positive buzz for the third installment.
Rosie Huntington-Whiteley has no acting experience but in the grand scheme of things, even if she did, it likely won't change the quality of the overall product of Transformers 3 nor the arguably undeserved box office results it will attain. At least Bay is helping launch her career like he did with Fox.
Director Michael Bay and writer Ehren Kruger are finalizing the script and production began on May 17th. The first scenes to be shot for the lead female role begin in about two weeks, leaving very little time for Rosie to prepare for her first acting gig. It all seems so rushed, no?
