Players can solve a variety of complex puzzles in The Room VR: A Dark Matter, including several difficult ones in the Museum. The Museum is the second level in The Room VR, but it's the first section of the game where players are left to figure out each challenge on their own. Players will need to go back and forth between puzzle areas to complete the level.
Unlike the Police Station in The Room VR, players aren't given much direction in the Museum. However, players can access their inventory to get a vague hint about what to do next if they're stuck. Under the inventory section, there's a pulldown menu that will have minor hints throughout the level that players can keep checking back for. Once players get the hang of how the puzzles work, they can start getting the Museum's sarcophagus open.
To start the Museum level in The Room VR, players need to get the sarcophagus out of the back room. The first step is to warp to the box on the right and pick up the note. Using the lens, which can be turned on from the inventory menu, players can look through the note at a mysterious symbol. Looking at the symbol will reveal where the sarcophagus should be in the middle of the room. To the right of the box, players can find blueprints showing them how to get the sarcophagus out of the locked room in the back.
Solving Every Museum Puzzle in The Room VR: A Dark Matter
In order to release the sarcophagus, players need to go over to the door and unlock it, then use the crank next to the door. To move the sarcophagus out into the main room, players can use the rope behind them to open the door and then pull it into the room using the crank in the middle. There's a note beside the sarcophagus that players can use the lens to look through. The symbol will show players the next step in solving this difficult puzzle in The Room VR.
After using the lens on the note, players can grab the hexagon on the table, then warp to the box where the symbol was. Players will need to turn the box until a slot for the hexagonal object is visible. Placing the hexagon in the slot will open the box to the right. Players can grab the object inside the box, then open the other box to the left for a new lens. Using the lens, players can look at the picture next to the lens box to reveal a symbol.
Next, players can look back at the spinning box using the lens and turn it until a secret compartment is visible. Using the sliders, players need to change all of the symbols to match the symbols above this compartment so that the box opens up. Then players can turn the box to the side with symbols in the top row and animals in the bottom row. Players need to line the top slider up to the third symbol and the bottom one to the second animal symbol. The Room VR players will receive one half of a golden beetle by solving this puzzle.
The box near the large stone tablet is where players will need to go next. The golden beetle half can be placed in the tablet, then players can turn on the lens and look at the box. The lens reveals a switch that can be turned so the knife can be pulled from the top of the box. Next, players should go back to the spinning box area and place the knife in the open slot to the left. This will release the hexagonal object with lines on it above the slot.
From there, players can go across the room to the puzzle box on the other side. Using the lens, players can slide the switch, then place the circular key they acquired earlier to guide the staff to the outline on the left side. The box will open up give players another key and a circular token with a beetle on it. Players can leave this box for now, then go back to the sarcophagus in The Room VR.
The beetle symbol can be placed in the side of the sarcophagus, then players can use the lens to reveal a circular color puzzle. Players need to twist the circles until the colors line up so the circles go from red to blue to green. Then the key players picked up from the last puzzle they solved can be placed in the side of the sarcophagus to push out the spokes that can be used to lift the lid. Players can go back to the crank next to the door and turn it, then use the rope to lift the sarcophagus lid. With the lid removed, players can return to the sarcophagus.
Next, The Room VR players will need to take the golden sphere from the open sarcophagus and turn it around to light up the four blue circles inside it. Players can then take the sphere over to the box near the stone tablet and place it in the center which opens the top of it. Next, players can place the hexagonal object with red lines inside the slot at the top of the box. The lines need to be matched up so the path forms a connection from one side to the other. Doing so will give players the other half of the golden beetle that can be placed in the stone tablet, as well as two small stone pieces. Players can put the golden beetle half in its slot.
A handle will be revealed, and players can find the next puzzle in The Room VR using the lens on the stone tablet. To solve this puzzle, players need to line up the image by hitting the red symbol seven times, the green one four times, and the blue symbol five times. Players will then receive a small symbol from the open golden beetle that can be placed on the spinning box to their right.
Placing the small symbol on the spinning box on the slider under the human figures will allow players to open this side. The top slider should be in the second position and the bottom slider should be in the first position. The handle inside can be placed on the box across the room. However, before moving on, players can solve the puzzles with the stone sliders by using the small stones they picked up earlier. Players will need to go to the sarcophagus to place the stones on the side and get the sliders, then bring them back to the spinning box.
The sliders need to be moved so that the crosses are lit up and the path at the top is turned the right way. Once players move the slider to the end position on both puzzles in The Room VR, the box will open to give players three figures. Next, players can take the handle to the box across the room, then line up the circle so the slider can be pushed in. Players will receive a circular symbol, then they can go back to the sarcophagus.
The figures can be placed in the sarcophagus according to the book beside it. The monkey goes at the top, the eagle at the bottom, the human to the right, and the dog to the left. The sarcophagus will burn up revealing the mummy inside, and players can then put the last object they received into the mummy's chest plate. The chest plate will open up to give players a human heart that can be placed in the golden beetle that's attached to the stone tablet. Players can use the lens to reveal the final puzzle. The rope can be cut using the handle to the right, then a cutscene will play. After, there will be a note where the mummy was, and players can use the lens to look through it and exit the Museum level in The Room VR.
