The Church is one of the most difficult levels in The Room VR: A Dark Matter and has some of the most complex puzzles in the game. There's a lot of backtracking and revisiting areas involved with solving every puzzle in the Church. Players will need to work on turning every statue and unlocking the mysterious object at the end in order to complete the Church level in The Room VR.
Players can reach the Church after opening the sarcophagus and solving every puzzle in The Room VR's Museum. Once players get the second mysterious object and place it in its slot, they will be transported to the Church. After arriving at the Church, players will need to use their lens on the note to their right and look at the symbol through the hole. It will reveal the next spot that players need to go to.
After warping forward, players will see a box to their left with a key inside. The key can be used on the gate to open up the back half of the Church in The Room VR. Players can then move forward and pull the two levers on either side of the pedestal. This will reveal another note, then players can use the lens to look at another symbol and watch a short cutscene. There will now be a new box in the entrance room near the wall with the numbers on it. The box contains a new lens for players to use in the Church level.
Solving Every Church Puzzle in The Room VR: A Dark Matter
After activating the new lens, players will see a small hole with red gems floating around it. Players can point at it to interact and warp through the portal. There are several areas in the Church level where players will need to enter portals, so they should look out for these gem areas. Inside the first portal puzzle in The Room VR, players will have a wheel in front of them that they can use to lift the two hooks. Next, players can exit the portal to find that the number wall has opened up.
When players spin the wall around, they'll pick up a glass decanter that can be used on the pedestal to the right in the main room. Players will first need to match up the symbols from the pedestal in the middle to the one on the right before placing the decanter. The object will fill up with water, then players can bring it to the center pedestal and place it. The full glass decanter will cause the center of the pedestal to flip revealing a new puzzle to solve in The Room VR.
Players can use the handles on the pedestal base to spin to the star symbol so the box opens up revealing another lens portal. However, before players head inside, they can turn to the left and grab the diamond stone that's sitting on the side of the pedestal. Then, players need to head to the back of the room and place the stone in the slot. Using the lens, players can reveal a quick puzzle where they need to line up the circles and push the diamond in. This will reveal a circle with a colorful symbol on it.
Players can then head into the second portal to find a light beam puzzle. The symbol players saw earlier can be matched by turning the wheel that moves the colored glass pieces. Players can then exit through the portal and turn the box to shine the light toward the colored symbol that was revealed on the stone slab. Five statues will enter the room, and players will be able to approach each one. The one in the center has a star figure that players can pick up.
From the statues, players can head to the back room behind them and to the right. The room has a painting on the far right and a chest to open on the left. First, players can turn the handle and open the chest on their left. Players can grab the stone with mirror fragments in it, then head over to the painting to place the star in its slot. The wall with the painting will open up to reveal a chest on a spinning pedestal. Players can spin the chest around to find a lockpicking tool and a lens puzzle.
To solve the secret lens puzzle, players need to pull the rope to twist the two outside mechanisms. Players can then slide the middle one over, use the rope again to twist them, then move the middle one to the center on the bottom. Finally, players will need to pull the rope once more so all three mechanisms are on the bottom. Next, players can turn the chest and twist the knob to open The Room VR Church level's third portal. Inside the portal, there's a note that players can use the lens on. After looking at the symbol, players will be able to move around this area to reach both of the cranks on the right side. After the circle flips, players can exit through the portal, and grab it on the outside of the chest.
There will be a new lens puzzle on the back of the chest. Players will need to line up the platforms on the bottom by pushing them to the middle, spinning the mechanism, and lining them up side by side. When the pieces are lined up, players can go back into the chest through the portal. Inside the portal, players can go straight across to the other side and use the cranks on either side of the mechanism to flip the circle. Outside of the portal, players can grab the next circular object, and there will be a new rope puzzle on the side. Players can pull the two ropes to line up the path so they can reach the last crank and circle at the top of the inside of the chest.
Players will need to go back and forth to change the walkways to they can reach the cranks both above and below the circle. Once both cranks are turned, players can exit the chest and grab the last circle, then turn the chest. The front of the chest will burn away to reveal a plaque that players will use to solve the clock puzzle later on. The stone with mirror fragments that players picked up earlier can now be placed in the center statue's hands. The statue directly to the left of the center statue has a light puzzle to solve, so players can go back through the portal in the center pedestal to change the light and match the symbol.
Once the light puzzle is matched a second time, players can exit through the portal and spin the box around to the lever, then pull it to shine the light forward. It will bounce off of the middle statue to make the one directly to the left turn around. Once this is done, players can turn around and go back to the entrance room, then use the lockpicking tool on the door to the left. There's a large wooden organ with a hammer on the left and a wooden stopper on the right. Players can pick up both, then go back into the main room and head into the room on the right.
The wooden stopper can be placed in the right slot, then both stoppers can be pulled down to reveal another portal. Inside the portal, there are two levers to the right that players can pull to unlock the mechanism in the middle. To get to the ones on the left, players need to warp to the semi-circle in the middle, spin the knob to unlock it, then grab the circle and pull it downward. Next, players can exit through the portal and use the lever to turn the tubing so that it lines up with the levers inside the portal puzzle.
Players will first need to line up the tubing to reach the furthest room to the right of the portal entrance so they can pick up an extra tube. After lining up the newly placed tubing to reach the levers on the left, players can use the semi-circle to spin them inside the portal and pull the last two levers. Next, players can return to the middle and spin the central mechanism so the arrow points up. Players can travel forward and unscrew the gears on each side. This portal puzzle is solved, so players can exit and go back to the room with the wooden organ.
Using the lens, players will reveal a new puzzle with a red glowing ball and three glowing slots. Players will need to use the piano keys to change the path so the ball falls into each of the three slots. This can be done by moving the path to line up with the glowing areas. If players make a mistake, the ball will be returned to the top of the puzzle, so they have unlimited chances to solve this slot puzzle. Once players reach all three slots, they will reveal a stone circle with another light puzzle solution on it, and this one can be picked up. Players can place it in the far-right statue, then go inside the middle pedestal portal and duplicate the symbol in the light puzzle.
Players can then exit and pull the lever on the box again. The light will shine on the far-right statue and it will turn around, then players can head into the room in the top-left corner past the statues. Once again, players will use the lockpicking tool to open the door. Up the stairs, players will find a puzzle with a slot for the hammer they picked up at the wooden organ earlier. Players can turn the crank, then pick up the cog before heading back to the main room. The pedestal on the left side of the room can now be solved once the cog is placed on it.
The pedestal with the cog changes the clock above the statues. Players can switch between clock hands with the right lever and spin the selected hand with the left lever. To find the solution, players need to use the symbols on the plaques found around the church. The hour hand needs to be on '3,' the minute hand on '10,' and the second hand on '11.' After solving the puzzle, players can go back to where they picked up the cog and go into the portal to pick up another light puzzle to solve.
Players can then head back to the main room, place the light puzzle solution in the far-right statue, then match the light puzzle in the middle pedestal portal. After exiting the portal and turning the lever, the far-right statue will turn around, and the shield on the right statue will burn away to reveal a puzzle. Players can then go to the shield statue and place the three circular objects into the shield. The middle cross piece on the shield can be spun to line up the golden circle, then players can activate their lens.
Using the symbols on the floor as a guide, players can turn the red symbol at the top of the shield and the cross in the middle to solve the puzzle. Once all the symbols are matched, the final light puzzle will be revealed. Players can return to the light puzzle inside the portal to match the last color scheme. Activating it will make the shield statue turn around, then players can flip the light switch again to make the floor in the center of the statues open up. Players can go down the stairs and through a dark corridor to find a note, then look through it with the lens.
When the cutscene finishes, players can warp forward and pull open the coffin to reveal the third mysterious object. This will complete the Church level in The Room VR, and players will move on to the Witches' Hut. Before getting to the next level, players will have a note to read, then they can use the lens to look through it to be transported. The Witches' Hut will earn players the last mysterious object to place in The Room VR: A Dark Matter.
