Summary

  • Ronnie Ortiz-Magro is unlikely to return as a permanent cast member on Jersey Shore: Family Vacation after his recent arrest and departure from the show.
  • Ronnie expressed his desire to talk with his former roommates on the show and clear the air, but it is uncertain if he will have a full return.
  • MTV allowing Ronnie to return to the show could potentially affect the overall viewership and may be disappointing given his past negative actions.

After stepping away from filming for over a year, Ronnie Ortiz Magro expressed he was unlikely to return to Jersey Shore: Family Vacation, though that could change. Ronnie was one of the original eight roommates on the hit reality show Jersey Shore. He was best known for his toxic, on-again, off-again relationship with Sammi "Sweetheart" Giancola. Although Sammi opted out of reuniting with her former roommates for the spinoff series in 2018, Ronnie decided to head back to being in the spotlight for the new show.

In April 2021, Ronnie was arrested for a domestic violence incident involving his then-girlfriend, Saffire Mattos. Police were called to Ronnie's Los Angeles home when a fight between him and Saffire turned physical. Ronnie was taken into custody and was later released. Although he was not charged following his arrest, he was asked to be removed from Jersey Shore: Family Vacation season 6 due to his actions. Ronnie later confirmed that he would be stepping away from filming for an unknown amount of time to improve his mental health.

Ronnie Hasn't Filmed With Former Jersey Shore Roommates In Almost 2 Years

Although Ronnie initially was vague about the permanence of his departure from the show, it is becoming less likely he will return as a permanent cast member as time passes. After the Jersey Shore: Family Vacation season 6 trailer was released, Ronnie was nowhere to be found in it.

Since his most recent arrest, Ronnie has remained out of the spotlight for the most part, which has seemingly helped his mental health. Returning to the show and being in the spotlight would most likely not be beneficial to Ronnie and the current personal journey he is assumed to be on. In addition to this, it would be disappointing if MTV allowed Ronnie to return to Jersey Shore after his past negative actions. This could, in turn, affect the overall viewership of the show.

For the current season, the Jersey Shore roommates traveled across the country. While Ronnie will not be in the upcoming season, he was featured in one short segment during Jersey Shore: Family Vacation season 5, in which he sat down with Mike "The Situation" Sorrentino. During the quick chat, Ronnie did admit he wanted to talk with the rest of the roommates to clear the air. It is assumed that Ronnie has not spoken to the rest of the cast since he departed from the show. However, Ronnie expressed to The Situation in a season 6 episode he was ready to return to the show. Mike seemed unsure.

Despite not being featured in the latest trailer for Jersey Shore: Family Vacation season 6, there is a chance that Ronnie will return for another short segment to speak with the other roommates. For now, he's only spoken with The Situation about his desire to return and feeling "ready" to do so. While this is possible, it is still doubtful that Ronnie will fully return to filming for the show as a main character yet again.

Jersey Shore: Family Vacation airs on Thursdays at 8 pm EST on MTV.
