In a new preview for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Last Ronin #5 by IDW Publishing, Michelangelo has a heated conversation with his fellow Turtles, where they question his motives and plan to stop Hioroto once and for all.
Michelangelo is the last surviving turtle in the dark future of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Last Ronin, as his fellow Turtles (and Master Splinter) have been casualties of a war against the Foot Clan. As the Last Ronin, Michelangelo has struggled with his own mental well-being after his family's deaths, as he was suicidal before being discovered by April O'Neil and Casey Jones Jr. Now, with his final battle with the Foot Clan and Hiroto coming, he's fighting his brothers, who continue to haunt him and question his decisions.
After months of delays, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Last Ronin #5 by Kevin Eastman, Tom Waltz, Ben Bishop, Peter Laird, Esau Escorza, Isaac Ecorza, and Luis Antonio Delgado is finally coming soon. In a new preview (H/T Newsarama) for the miniseries' finale, Michelangelo continues to talk with his dead brothers. However, the trio of fallen Turtles question the Last Ronin's motives, calling him out for wasting time when Hiroto is still out there, and wondering why he's just sitting around. It's quite a brutal scene, as Michelangelo's heavy burden of carrying on the legacy of the Turtles is mentioned, while Raphael says Mikey isn't strong enough and let them all down.
Michelangelo doesn't want to fail April and Casey Jones Jr. and realizes the stakes if Hiroto isn't defeated. After Raphael tries to suggest a course of action, Michelangelo suits up and tells them he doesn't want their input. After another tense back-and-forth between Mikey and his fallen brothers, the Last Ronin finally gets them to disappear as he heads off for a final battle against Hiroto.
Michelangelo and the rebellion's final battle against Hiroto and the Foot Clan is surely to be a bloody battle, with only one side likely walking out of the fight alive. However, with years of death and trauma surrounding the Last Ronin, it seems like he's OK with sacrificing himself to ensure his surviving family doesn't suffer the same fate as his fellow Turtles.
