When it comes to romance, Gemini are generally a flirtatious bunch, but once committed, they become deeply loyal. According to the stars, Gemini are most compatible with Aires, Libra, Leo, and Aquarius, and least compatible with Virgo and Pisces. More often than not, though, they follow their hearts and make it work no matter what the universe says.

Gemini take love seriously and therefore can be critical of romantic comedies. They can appreciate the sweetness and lighthearted humor fine, but veer away from sappiness and will more often prefer a film that helps them learn something about this abstract thing we call love. Here are five rom-coms that Gemini will love, and five others they will hate.

Love: Love Actually

To be honest, it's hard to find somebody who doesn't enjoy this Richard Curtis-directed Christmas love story. It is funny, telling, and charming to no end. Gemini, in particular, will appreciate Love Actually's ensemble cast as well as the wide variety of characters and narratives interwoven throughout the plot.

Gemini have racing minds, so the jumpy structure of Love Actually will keep them stimulated and entertained through the end. Also, with so many relationships on the screen, a Gemini will be bound to identify with at least one of them.

Hate: Last Christmas

On the other end of the Christmas movie rom-com spectrum, 2019's Last Christmas will probably fail to impress a Gemini. Unlike Curtis' Love Actually, the Paul Feig-directed Last Christmas is very one-track, following a single budding relationship as it comes to fruition during the holiday season.

While the on-screen couple (portrayed by Emilia Clarke and Henry Golding) is undoubtedly a lovable one and the movie as a whole has its share of cute moments, the story might be just a tad too predictable and hackneyed for Gemini to really sink into.

Love: (500) Days Of Summer

Far from a Christmas movie, (500) Days Of Summer has obvious summertime energy, with a flowering joyous tone throughout. Despite the film's aesthetic, though, (500) Days Of Summer is far more than a mere jubilant joyride through love's clouds.

It is actually a strikingly realistic depiction of a modern relationship seen through the eyes of a hopelessly romantic young man (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) falling for what he thinks is the girl of his dreams (Zooey Deschanel). At times it is sweet, but at others heartbreaking. Gemini will surely like the movie for its truthfulness, but will really fall for its non-linear structure and its delightfully quirky humor.

Hate: The Proposal

2009's The Proposal is a movie we've more or less forgotten about over the years, and perhaps for good reasons. It is an infamously basic rom-com, using all the clichés in the book to make the unlikely couple fall in love before the credits roll. The movie's ending can be seen from a mile away, and maybe that is part of its appeal.

For a Gemini who relishes in twists, turns, and complex plots, though, The Proposal fails to hit the mark. Although the film touts Ryan Reynolds and Sandra Bullock as the lead characters, that talented duo is still not enough to sway a Gemini's interest.

Love: Wanderlust

Gemini are born with wanderlust in their hearts, and therefore will appreciate this aptly titled Paul Rudd-Jennifer Aniston starring rom-com. Directed by David Wain, Wanderlust follows an ordinary couple who end up in an extraordinary situation after losing their jobs and joining a cultish organization.

Placing these simple folk in a hippie-like commune environment creates wonderful comedy, and Gemini will also appreciate the movie's sense of adventure. Although the film in total might be critical of the bohemian lifestyle, Gemini will nevertheless find endearment in its honest and hilarious sentiment.

Hate: Couples Retreat

Opposite Wanderlust, Couples Retreat is the kind of adventure rom-com that Geminis will probably not go for. Instead of an exciting escapade filled with interesting places and people, Couples Retreat focuses on a bunch of fragile married couples going down to Caribbean to hopefully fix their relationships.

The movie has some good moments and sports a spectacular cast including Vince Vaughn, Kristen Bell, John Favreau, Jason Bateman, Kristen Davis, and more. However, a resort vacation parable is simply not the kind of adventure flick that draws Gemini to the big screen, and comedically crippling marriages is not what they want to see in a love story.

Love: Annie Hall

Released in 1977, Annie Hall prophetically parodied romantic comedies before many of the genre's tropes were even established. This Woody Allen gut buster stars the director himself alongside Diane Keaton, and it is a blatant disregard of all things politically correct or conventional.

Using everything from subtitles to animation, Annie Hall far from your average rom-com and that is exactly why Gemini enjoy it. The movie spits in the face of generic exceptions and in doing so, creates a profoundly earnest love story. Gemini will come for Annie Hall's ubiquitous laughs but will stick around for its subtle insights.

Hate: Hall Pass

As far as love and relationships go, Gemini are steadfastly faithful to their partners. While they can be flirtatious and flexible when things are non-committal, once they've agreed to be with someone, they are locked and loyal. Thus, the Owen Wilson-starring Hall Pass, which focuses on two men whose wives have given them permission to sleep around for a few days, just might make a Gemini's stomach turn.

Although the movie ends with a message promoting monogamy, the majority of the plot involves breaking romantic commitments and pining after a wider variety of sexual experiences. It is a movie and that Gemini would be better off skipping.

Love: Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind

It's difficult to label Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind a mere romantic comedy. With an Oscar-winning screenplay from Charlie Kaufman and some real heart-wrenching moments throughout, the movie is more of dramedy. However, it stars Jim Carrey, centers on the idea of love, and has its share of hysterical jokes, so it fits the bill.

Gemini, in particular, will love this movie. It looks at love from a completely original angle, as most of the film takes place in a cognitive maze, the heroes jumping through unconscious memories whilst being erased from existence. Gemini like movies that are weird and make them think. Eternal Sunshine does both and then some.

Hate: The 40-Year-Old Virgin

This Judd Apatow career-making movie from 2005 was a comedy landmark upon release, launching the cast of Steve Carell, Seth Rogen, and Paul Rudd to new heights. However, The 40-Year-Old Virgin has aged dubiously. Some of the film's raunchy, offensive humor might prove too much for a contemporary audience.

Gemini by no means need their movies to be one hundred percent kosher. Nevertheless, they do appreciate a certain degree of wholesomeness, dignity, and intelligence when it comes to romantic comedies. Those elements have sadly seemed to wane from The 40 Year Old Virgin over the past fifteen years.
