The mutant Rogue is one of the more popular members of the X-Men, especially in the wake of 2000's X-Men film courtesy of 20th Century Fox. Her rather unique skill is also the source of the tragedy of the character: she can absorb powers with a touch, but risks seriously hurting or even killing her target if she maintains contact for too long. But while Rogue's confidence was lacking in the film, her 90s incarnation has it in abundance, and a recent cosplay shows off her signature green and yellow costume.

Born Anna Marie, Rogue is a fairly recent addition to the X-Men mythos (at least when compared to the other classic characters debuting during the 60s). She didn't even debut in the X-Men books proper, but rather in Avengers Annual #10 in 1981...as a villain. She eventually reformed and joined Charles Xavier's team. Aside for the character's signature mutant power, she is perhaps best known for permanently robbing Ms. Marvel of her powers (though Carol Danvers would eventually gain new powers [and a new superhero name] after making a recovery).

A new cosplay of Rogue recently appeared on the social media and news-sharing site Reddit.com, courtesy of cosplayer Natalia_Nova_cosplay. The cosplayer has posted various cosplays of the Avenger Black Widow, but in the image below, she trades her red hair for brown and white. As wast the trend at the time in the 1990s (sometimes known as the Dark Age of Comics), Rogue's outfit features a skintight uniform with loose belt and a bulky leather jacket layered on top, with the red X-Men logo featured on the shoulder.

Artist Jim Lee popularized this version of Rogue's costume, and occasionally would add a green headband to Rogue's head. The colors were bright and loud, showcasing Rogue's personality in addition to the 90s art style, which often featured bright, contrasting colors. Perhaps rather infamously, the 2000 X-Men film series did away with nearly all color in the team's uniforms, and placed the actors in featureless black suits that would make regular appearances until 2011's X-Men: First Class would restore the yellow in the team's costumes.

Rogue's powers have fluctuated over the years. She once lost all her powers after a fight with the supervillain Vargas, then acquired Sunfire's abilities, then Wonder Man's abilities. But regardless of her current set of abilities and costume, Rogue's 90s outfit remains a fan-favorite, and the X-Men hero is brought to life in the user's quite-accurate cosplay.
