Cellar Door Games' Rogue Legacy came out in 2013, and with its randomly generated dungeons and updates, it still holds a spot in many gamers libraries.

Crafting your lineage and consistently leaving the world a better place for your kids is the highlight of this game and with so many different classes and builds it can be daunting to know just the right way to approach your next run.

This guide will provide some tips and tricks to beating the Rogue Legacy bosses that hide throughout the family castle.

Khidr

Rogue Legacy Khidr

Khidr is the first boss you'll come across and the easiest. You'll find it in the castle area of the map. Any class should work to defeat him. The goal is to dodge his fairly slow projectiles, then jump in there and start swinging away. If you've already found some runes, retaliation works really well here, just in case you do take some damage. After a few rounds of dodge/attack, you should be victorious.

Alexander the IV

Rogue Legacy Alexander The IV

Alexander's giant flaming skull can be found in the forest area of the castle. His attacks are slow and he pauses before attacking, leaving him open for hits. Alexander also sends flying skulls around the room, so a character that has high damage, is very useful here so you can take them out easily. The Assassin or the Hokage class is highly recommended. If you find yourself surrounded by a bunch of skulls, you can use your special combined with a dash to get out of there and line them up on one side, making for an easy slaughter.

Ponce de Leon

Rogue Legacy Ponce De Leon

This is by far the most difficult boss in Rogue Legacy. Ponce leaves a fireball trail everywhere he goes and the room is filled with spike balls that bounce around. You should use the Barbarian class due to his special shout which will push away all the fireballs that he leaves around the room. The smartest tactic is to move in a circle around the room, stay near the walls and attack while retreating. If you make your circle large enough the fireballs should vanish before you circle back around. Retaliation is a smart rune to use here as well since the spike balls will take damage and get destroyed if they hit you. Keep circling and attacking until he fizzles.

Herodotus

Rogue Legacy Herodotus

Herodotus can be found down in the darkness area of the castle and can be a difficult beast if you don't take it slow. Every time you hit him enough he will split into two and release the green flying demon Gravisor, and then those two blobs will also split into two, and so on and so on. Oh, and there's also spike traps all over the ground. With so many things to avoid there are some important traits and runes to get for this battle. The P.A.D. trait will cause the spike traps to not activate which is incredibly helpful, and the haste rune will speed up your dodging ability. The goal is to make a blob split, then focus on killing the Gravisor. Slowly work one blob at a time, killing the demon in between. After some patience and quick reflexes, you should be ready for the final boss.

Johannes

Rogue Legacy Johannes

He may not look like much but Johannes can pack a punch. He uses most of the spells you've been using throughout the adventure so you have to stay sharp. But he has one big weakness: if you use an archmage with the dagger spell, he's an easy kill. When the battle starts just throw a dagger, then throw another dagger, and another, and another, until he's dead. Each time he gets hit, he gets knocked back, which keeps him at a solid distance from you. So just shoot daggers every few seconds and eventually, you win. At times he may shoot some daggers back at you, but you will have plenty of notice and can easily jump over them. When defeated he will transform into his final form, as any good boss does. Just utilize the same tactic of daggers and you'll be through it in no time. To be fair though, the final form does have some more attacks that are a little harder to dodge. But you can make easy work of him.

And that's it, you've cemented your legacy and proved that you are the greatest of your lineage. Now jump into Rogue Legacy's New Game+ and kill the boss remixes!
