There is room for more Rocky movies and spinoffs after Creed 3, and here are four realistic possibilities. Sylvester Stallone's Rocky franchise was revitalized in a significant way in 2015 with the release of Ryan Coogler's Creed. The movie introduced audiences to Apollo Creed's son, Adonis (played by Michael B. Jordan), and brought Stallone back as Rocky Balboa with an awards-worthy performance. Creed's success paved the way for the franchise to be reborn, with Adonis becoming the central character in the Rocky universe. This is reflected by Rocky not being in Creed 3, a sequel that Jordan directs in addition to playing the lead role.

Considering how successful the Creed movies have been for MGM, Creed 3 will play an essential part in determining if the Rocky franchise will continue. The film is envisioned as the end of Adonis' trilogy, but there are still hopes that more movies will be made that star Michael B. Jordan's character and others established throughout the sequel franchise. There are currently two Rocky movies that are seemingly confirmed to be in development within the larger Rocky universe and have connections to the Creed series. But, there is also room for Creed 3 to set up several other sequels and spinoffs.

1 Michael B. Jordan's Creed 4 Is Happening Already

The most likely Rocky movie that could come after Creed 3 is a direct sequel, Creed 4, starring Michael B. Jordan as Adonis. His films have been incredibly successful through the first two installments, and the franchise star is taking on an even more significant role with the third entry. Now that Michael B. Jordan is both directing and starring in the Creed movies, he can take full control of the Rocky franchise in the same way Sylvester Stallone did decades ago. Creed 3 could close out the first trilogy of films starring Adonis and set the groundwork for the story to continue with Creed 4.

The chances of Creed 4 happening to continue the franchise after Creed 3 appear to be relatively high. During an interview with IGN in the lead-up to the threequel's release, Michael B. Jordan confirmed that Creed 4 is "for sure" happening. MGM has yet to announce plans for the sequel officially, but it appears that the franchise star is already thinking about how to continue the franchise with a fourth installment. If Creed 4 does move forward as MBJ expects, he could once again step behind the camera to direct. His tease might even imply that Creed 3's ending directly sets up a fourth movie in the Rocky spinoff franchise.

2 Creed 3 Spinoff For Jonathan Majors’ Villain

Creed 3 Jonathan Majors as Damien

An exciting possibility for the next Rocky movie after Creed 3 is a spinoff for Jonathan Majors' villain, Damian Anderson. Even though audiences have yet to even officially meet Jonathan Majors' Creed 3 villain, there is already plenty of excitement for his introduction into the universe. He has a personal backstory with Adonis that looks to be the backbone of his revenge story. Meanwhile, Majors packed on pounds of muscle to play the intimidating physical foe. His status as one of Hollywood's brightest talents makes Damian a character that already seems poised to be at the center of more stories.

Instead of Jonathan Majors returning after Creed 3 for sequels that still revolve around Adonis, getting a spinoff focused on Damian would be fascinating. The idea for this Rocky movie is undoubtedly dependent on how his character arc ends in Creed 3. However, as long as the franchise does not deliver a shock and kill Jonathan Majors' character, there will be opportunities for him to return. A movie focused on Damian could explore his time in prison more and attempt to rehabilitate his life after getting out. Creed 3 could further set up the Damian spinoff based on how the movie ends.

3 Rocky 7 Could Bring Back Sylvester Stallone

The possibility of another Rocky movie starring Sylvester Stallone also cannot be ruled out as something that could happen after Creed 3. The film is making history by being the first in the franchise not to include an appearance from Stallone's Rocky Balboa. This is due to Stallone's history with franchise producer Irwin Winkler, who acquired the rights to the franchise early on when Stallone needed money. He has said that he will not be part of any Rocky movies as long as Winkler remains attached to the franchise, but the two could ultimately reconcile their differences at some point if it meant Stallone regaining some control of the IP.

As hard as it is to imagine Stallone working with Winkler again, nothing can be counted out in Hollywood. Sylvester Stallone remains a very popular actor, so him returning for Rocky 7 would be an opportunity for the franchise to shift its focus back to the Italian Stallion. Any potential Rocky movies starring Stallone will not put the actor back in the ring, as those days are certainly behind Balboa. However, his story could continue after Creed II when he reunited with his son, Robert Balboa Jr (Milo Ventimiglia). The duo could get wrapped up in a new boxing venture and see what the father-son relationship is like now.

4 A Drago Spinoff Movie Is In Development

It is also confirmed that a Drago spinoff movie is in development after Creed 3. This is the Rocky movie that appears to be the furthest along in development. As reported in 2022, MGM hired Robert Lawton to write a script for the Drago spinoff movie. The movie will see Dolph Lundgren return as Ivan Drago and Florian Munteanu return as his son Viktor Drago. The Drago movie is envisioned as a spinoff of the Creed franchise after both characters appeared in the second installment. Munteanu is also confirmed to have a role in Creed 3, so the movie could directly set up the events of the spinoff.

Without any details being made available about what the Drago family will be up to in the new Rocky movie after Creed 3, the plot is open to speculation. It would seem likely that the film will take the franchise back to Russia in a prominent way after only visiting the nation for the ends of Rocky IV and Creed II. The significant change that will come with Drago is that Ivan and Viktor will be made the main characters for this franchise installment after playing villains before. For that reason, the continued redemption of both Rocky villains and exploring their quests to be better could be a central theme for the film.
