Over two years ago when Rockstar Games initially launched Grand Theft Auto V, a lot of expectations were running high. Rockstar had promoted the game with a series of trailers, photos and promises – all of which looked amazing. When the game finally did arrive, aside from the odd little glitch and a few minor (and fixable) problems with the online mode, it was hard for any fair-minded person to conclude that Rockstar hadn’t lived up to everything they’d promised.
As far as future plans that Rockstar had made regarding GTA V, gamers just had to wait to see how accurate such talk would turn out to be. To date, Rockstar’s efforts at building up the GTA V universe are impressive and there’s still enough in the game to keep players coming back for more. At the very least, the upgrade of the game from last to next gen console has been a resounding success and continuous little upgrades along the way (to everything from clothing to weapons to vehicles) have been very welcome additions.
So it isn’t exactly surprising that Rockstar have something new in the works for GTA fans and this time it’s more than just a few cosmetic changes to the game’s overall appearance. Starting December 15th, gamers will be able to download the latest addition to the GTA V online campaign with the Executives and Other Criminals expansion. The all-new gameplay modes will allow players to create their own criminal organisation and live the good life like never before: brand new apartments and houses as well as the massive Super Yacht will be available. Take a look at the new trailer above and get the low down on the newest additions below, courtesy of Rockstar:
VIP’s who run their own operation gain access to new co-op Jobs, challenges and special abilities in Freemode, as well as having the power to hire and fire other players for their team of bodyguards. Meanwhile, Bodyguards earn a regular paycheck and their own special benefits including RP, GTA$ and stat boosts for working for a VIP’s organization.
As any well established criminal organisation in Los Santos knows, you won’t stay on top for long if you don’t have the proper weaponry, and it wouldn’t be a true GTA expansion without some serious hardware to back up your online investments, now would it?
Organizations can go head to head in Freemode, with new missions that make full use of the latest executive defense options including new armored vehicle variants, the devastating Turreted Limo and the missile defense systems of the Super Yacht, which also comes with its own suite of supporting vehicle upgrades including the new SuperVolito Carbon helicopter and personal watercraft.
Beyond all of this, the Executives and Other Criminals expansion will alter some of GTA V’s current Freemode Events: Moving Target and King of the Hill are just a couple of the current campaigns to be revised. And if that isn’t enough for you, there’s also a new Extraction Adversary Mode in which players must rescue their crime boss from a downed jet before enemy combatants beat them to it.
Throw in all the new weapons and vehicles as well as the signature Rockstar surprises along the way and this is definitely going to be a free expansion worth acquiring. Rockstar has a very strong claim to fame in the gaming world, due in no small part to consistently bringing its customers new content on existing titles. Grand Theft Auto V continues to grow just as Rockstar promised us upon its initial release - so if these sorts of expansions and improvements are any indication, the future of the GTA franchise is looking very good.
Executives and Other Criminals will be available as a free download for PS4, Xbox One and PC as of December 15th.
