The length of Rocket League Season 2 is getting extended by a week, and the reveal of a prolonged season has also come with the announcement of Rocket League Season 2 rewards for competitive play rankings. Rocket League is the immensely popular multiplayer title from developer Psyonix, a free-to-play mix of destruction derby and popular team sports that has endured for years on the back of its unique premise and tight, well-honed gameplay.

As popular as Rocket League continues to be among many people who aren't invested in its competitive play, the game's professional scene - and online ranked ladder - has also remained lively. For those unfamiliar with how Season Rewards work in competitive Rocket League play, the game asks that players complete placement matches to be given a Rank to start a new season. Winning further matches results in the player continuing to progress up the game's Rank system, and whatever Rank they end a Rocket League season at will see them earn corresponding rewards that get better the higher they place.

Those looking to get some of the better rewards in Rocket League Season 2 will be pleased to hear that it has been extended. Psyonix announced the extension via the official Rocket League website, stating that the season's original end date of March 31 will be pushed back to April 7. That means players can plan to use the extra week to try to improve their Rank before the season ends - and Psyonix also announced the rewards for Rocket League Season 2 to further incentivize players to make a run at higher placements. Here's how the rewards shake out:

  • Bronze I or higher - Season 2 - Bronze Boost
  • Silver I or higher - Season 2 - Silver Boost + lower Boost
  • Gold I or higher - Season 2 - Gold Boost + lower Boosts
  • Platinum I or higher - Season 2 - Platinum Boost + lower Boosts
  • Diamond I or higher - Season 2 - Diamond Boost + lower Boosts
  • Champion I or higher - Season 2 - Champion Boost + lower Boosts
  • Grand Champion I - Season 2 - Grand Champion Boost + lower Boosts
  • Supersonic Legend - Season 2 - Supersonic Legend Boost + lower Boosts

Rocket League Season 2 rewards will be new Boosts for players, which will be delivered at the beginning of Season 3. The exact makeup of Rocket League Season 3 isn't currently known, but with the end of the current Season 2 approaching swiftly, players can expect to get updates on the upcoming Rocket League season in the near future. The announcement also revealed that Season 2 Tournament Credits will convert to All-Star Cups once the season ends, with participation in at least one Competitive Tournament required to convert at least one All-Star Cup.

While the announcement of Rocket League Season 2 rewards - and the extension of the season - is an exciting one in some respects, it's also not something that generally moves the needle much for the game's passionate fanbase. More details on Rocket League Season 3 and new content will likely be needed to get fans really excited for the game's 2021, but an extra week to snag the rewards they now know about isn't a bad start.
