RoboCop: Rogue City will debut a brand-new vision of the titular RoboCop character, who will likely be very different from the RoboCop featured in Mortal Kombat 11. The first-person shooter will mark the first genuine RoboCop video game developed for consoles since the 2003 video game carrying the same name. The RoboCop character has remained surprisingly absent from video games over the years, with a major exception being his inclusion as a DLC fighter in Mortal Kombat 11. Now, after a decade, RoboCop: Rogue City will follow the iconic robot officer as his crime-fighting journey continues.

RoboCop's inclusion in Mortal Kombat 11 served as a video game revival for the '80s action icon, bringing him into a slick AAA video game where RoboCop can literally fight the Terminator (surprisingly making it the second RoboCop versus Terminator video game). While longtime fans of the franchise may have been thrilled at RoboCop's inclusion in Mortal Kombat 11's DLC fighters, his features in the game were an homage, at best. Many of the fighter's special moves, brutality animations, and voice lines relived some of the best moments in the RoboCop films. RoboCop's campaign ending, however, was anecdotal and hardly contributed to the lasting legacy of the RoboCop series.

Although few story details have been confirmed for RoboCop: Rogue City, the most recent gameplay trailer illustrated a movie-accurate authenticity, made all the better by original RoboCop actor Peter Weller returning to the role. As this is the first dedicated RoboCop title to release on consoles in nearly two decades, it's only natural that it would differ from games where Murphy has only made cameos. Here's what's stood out so far in Rogue City's depiction and how it differs from Mortal Kombat.

Rogue City's RoboCop Will Be More Realized Than Mortal Kombat's

Though RoboCop: Rogue City will tell a new story set in the RoboCop universe, a key feature from Mortal Kombat 11 remains the same: Peter Weller. Peter Weller will play RoboCop in Rogue City, cementing the upcoming game as a bonafide RoboCop video game. Weller also contributed his voice and likeness to Mortal Kombat 11, but his role in RoboCop: Rogue City will inevitably be a more involved one. With more narrative exposition and new character interactions, Rogue City's RoboCop will have much more to accomplish than simply mangling the Terminator.

Another major departure from the RoboCop in Mortal Kombat 11 is that RoboCop: Rogue City will be a first-person shooter, as opposed to the third-person fighting of Mortal Kombat 11. Instead of combining strings of button combinations to execute moves, players will be able to interact with environments, NPCs, and criminals in a more immersive player experience. All in all, judging from its gameplay trailer, it looks like RoboCop: Rogue City will offer a more comprehensive RoboCop experience than his cameo in Mortal Kombat 11.
