The X-Men's Jubilee and Batman's sidekick Robin may occupy different universes, but that didn't stop them from becoming the sweetest DC/Marvel romance. All thanks to the 1996 Multiversal conflict that brought Marvel and DC together, and endless delight to comic book fans.

The DC Versus Marvel miniseries saw the two superhero universes collide. Heroes and villains alike faced off against one another; Captain America dueled Batman, Wolverine scrapped with Lobo, and Superman fought against the Hulk. Comic book readers were invited to vote on who would win, turning each conflict into something of a popularity contest. In a curious twist, though, the most entertaining match-up was a romantic one.

The DC Versus Marvel event began with characters being spontaneously transported from one universe to another. "Nope," Jubilee answered, eyeing him up. "But I like his fashion sense already." The two were immediately attracted to one another - although the course of true love never runs smooth, meaning Jubilee and Robin were destined to fight one another in a duel to help decide the fate of both universes.

Robin Catches Jubilee

Robin triumphed, although he did so without throwing a punch, instead successfully snagging her in one of his ropes. The romance between Jubilation Lee and Tim Drake was a sweet one, although it's notable Tim conveniently avoided admitting he already had a girlfriend in his own universe at the time. The simmering flames of passion were fanned into flame by various Multiversal events, with Robin and Jubilee transported to Venice. Needless to say, they took advantage of that particular experience in order to spend some quality time together. Unfortunately the two universes separated again, meaning the two had to end their brief relationship.

Jubilee and Robin crossed paths again in a sequel miniseries called All Access, in which various heroes and villains switched universes for team-ups. For her part, Jubilee wanted to pick up where they'd left off, but this time Tim Drake admitted he was already in a relationship. That admission, coupled with the realization their romance would threaten the entire universe, led Jubilee to accept their love story was doomed. The two parted with one last kiss, never to meet again.

Robin and Jubilee Comic Kiss

It was easily the sweetest DC/Marvel team-up of all time, a delightful if angst-filled Romeo and Juliet story. Right now, there's a push for DC and Marvel to agree to another crossover event, in order to help breathe new life in an industry ravaged by the coronavirus pandemic. Hopefully Robin and Jubilee will cross paths once again.
