This post contains SPOILERS for DC's Saved by the Belle Reve #1

In DC's back-to-school special Saved by the Belle Reve #1, Damian Wayne hilariously proves he's the DC version of Darth Vader. Having a flair for the dramatic and loving an epic entrance, the son of Batman shows up on the first day of school in style with his own theme music, getting some serious eye rolls from his best friend Jon Kent, the son of Superman. That being said, there's no denying the current Robin's confidence (and rather large ego) based on his particular song choice.

DC's Saved by the Belle Reve #1 is a new anthology special with every story being about students, teachers, and/or mentors in the DC Universe. Case in point, one story features the Suicide Squad going undercover at a private school and taking the place of teachers (even King Shark and Weasel). However, "Back to School" is a new Super Sons story from the series' original writer Peter Tomasi with art by Max Raynor. Attending the West-Reeves School, both Damian and Jon are eager to make good impressions on their first day. However, Damian's always-present air of superiority means his idea of a good impression is very different from Jon's.

As seen in the new Saved by the Belle Reve #1, Damian arrives to the first day of school in a black helicopter piloted by the Waynes' butter Alfred. If that wasn't enough, the son of Batman also takes over the sound system to blast one of Star Wars' most iconic scores composed by John Williams as the chopper lands just outside the school. Not only does this dramatic entrance reveal Damian's preferred theme music for himself, it also implies that he likes to think of himself as the Darth Vader of the DC Universe.

Damian Wayne's Robin Plays Imperial March

While this certainly sets the tone for Damian's feelings about school and the need for him to attend, he does find a cause worth his time, working with Jon to help a new student deal with a pair of relentless bullies. However, the choice of "The Imperial March" is more than just a funny song pick. After all, Damian is one of the darker Robins whose first few years of childhood were spent being trained by his grandfather Ra's al Ghul and the League of Assassins before he started living with his father Batman. As such, one could argue that Damian Wayne might be the Kylo Ren of the DC Universe, seeing as how he also has a villain for a grandfather.

Regardless of the deeper meaning, Darth Vader's "Imperial March" is the perfect song for Damian Wayne to announce his arrival back to school. It totally fits his vibe and darker character in more ways than one (even if it is a little too extra for Jon). DC's Saved by the Belle Reve #1 is on sale now.
