After Avengers: Endgame, Robert Downey Jr. puts on the Infinity Gauntlet again, this time for charity. The actor's time playing Iron Man in the MCU ended in 2019 when the superhero wielded the power of all six Infinity Stones to defeat Thanos; the move also resulted in his death.

In 2008, Marvel Studios launched the MCU through Jon Favreau's Iron Man which debuted Downey as the titular character. Since then, the actor played the role a total of 10 times throughout the universe's Infinity Saga which wrapped up via Joe and Anthony Russo's Endgame. In the culminating film, Tony Stark pulled off a sacrificial play which ultimately defeated the Mad Titan and his minions. Admittedly, not everyone was a fan of how the MCU sent off its inaugural hero. Regardless, Iron Man wearing his own Stark Gauntlet with all the Infinity Stones will be one of the most iconic moments in the franchise ever.

This is why Marvel fans were thrilled seeing Downey wear the Infinity Gauntlet again, albeit for a different reason. In his new Instagram post, the actor sports a replica of the metal glove while promoting Metallica's upcoming virtual concert this Saturday, November 14th at 2pm PST. The event will be for the benefit of the All Within My Hands Foundation. Watch the clip below:

Those who are sticklers for details would point out that Tony didn't actually wield the Infinity Gauntlet that Downey was wearing in the video as it's the secondary glove they created following the time heist. Despite insistence from Thor to do it, Hulk was eventually picked to put it on and do the reverse snap. While it had the ability to change in size to fit its wearer, it didn't shrink in size after it was used once. Iron Man's gauntlet was fitted into his final suit, allowing him to swipe the Infinity Stones in his brief contact with Thanos during Endgame's climactic battle. Nevertheless, seeing the actor harken on his days playing the genius, billionaire in the MCU will almost always excite fans who have closely followed his journey in the universe.

Unfortunately, with Iron Man's arc in the MCU officially done, it's only going to be through fun promos like this that would see Robert Downey Jr. bringing back elements from his superhero past. Despite rumors that he could be returning as Tony Stark moving forward, the actor has confirmed that he's officially done with the MCU and is ready to try on other things. Frankly, as much as it would be cool to see the snarky superhero back, attempting to do this would only risk cheapening an otherwise fitting send off for the character.
