Robert Downey Jr. says "the best is yet to come" when it comes to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, specifically with Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers 4. The MCU may currently be the biggest ongoing cinematic franchise, but there was a time when this was far from a certainty. Downey has been there since the very beginning and is one of the biggest reasons why the MCU took off as well as it did. Thanks to his perfect embodiment of Tony Stark, Iron Man launched the MCU in grand fashion.

Since its inception in 2008, the MCU has churned out seventeen movies but will have twenty released by July 2018. They are currently in the middle of Phase 3, a ten movie lineup that culminates with Avengers 4 next year. Through the years, Marvel Studios has made some highly regarded films, but Downey says the best is still on the way.

Sharing a new photo on Instagram from the set of Avengers 4, Downey and hyped the future of the MCU in the process. While the photo itself is almost identical to another recent post from Downey's manager teasing a possible new Avengers base, his caption here is what will get fans excited. He points out how he is still leading the charge, but also teases everyone that quality and spectacle will only go up.

Hey Party People, I’m still doing my part to help shoulder the MCU,,, are you? Get ready, the best is yet to come... #represent #teamStark @marvelstudios @therealstanlee #alldaylong #theAteam #infinitywar #theAvengers ? credit @chuckzlotnick A post shared by Robert Downey Jr. (@robertdowneyjr) on

Expectations are already running high for the next two Avengers movies, and Downey's tease isn't going to dampen excitement in the slightest. Even with anticipation being through the roof, there is reason to hope both movies will not disappoint. Not only will the films feature basically every single character from the MCU teaming up, but they're also being shepherded by the Russo brothers behind the camera and with a script from Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely. Plus, with Kevin Feige keeping a watchful eye, some of Marvel Studios' most important figures are involved.

The Russo brothers were natural choices to direct Infinity War and Avengers 4 following their success on Captain America: The Winter Soldier and Captain America: Civil War. Markus and McFeely meanwhile wrote the scripts for the entire Captain America trilogy. Feige is always involved too, but both Avengers movies also received the close attention of Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn. With these movies set to fully introduce Thanos (Josh Brolin) and pit him against the biggest heroes the MCU has to offer, there's no doubt they'll deliver on the spectacle. But, if those involved truly do deliver the best film from Marvel Studios, it will mark the latest example of Feige and the studio delivering on their longterm plans.
