Robert De Niro and Zach Braff lead a star-studded cast in the trailer for The Comeback Trail, an action-comedy about desperate movie producers. The movie is a remake of a little known comedy from 1982, which was unique for having a number of cameos from celebrities of the time, including Hugh Hefner. This time around, the movie is written and directed by George Gallo, who penned De Niro's classic 1988 road trip comedy Midnight Run, which inspired a recent episode of Better Call Saul.

The Comeback Trail has released its first trailer, which features De Niro and Scrubs star Braff as a pair of down-on-their-luck producers who are in debt to a mobster (Morgan Freeman). In order to get themselves out of trouble, they hatch a scheme to hire an aging Western star (Tommy Lee Jones) to appear in a fake film, in the hopes that he'll die on set and they can collect the insurance money. The trailer makes good use of its stellar cast, which also includes Emile Hirsch (Once Upon a Time in Hollywood) and comedian Eddie Griffin. The aim here is clearly to make the film as enjoyable as possible. It looks like a good old-fashioned caper and is clearly inspired by Mel Brooks' classic The Producers.

The Comeback Trail will be released in theaters on November 13. The synopsis reads: Two movie producers who owe money to the mob set up their aging movie star for an insurance scam to try and save themselves. But they wind up getting more than they ever imagined. Starring Academy Award winner Robert De Niro, Academy Award winner Tommy Lee Jones, Academy Award winner Morgan Freeman, Zach Braff, Emile Hirsch, Eddie Griffin & Kate Katzman.
