Writer/director Rob Zombie teased Grandpa Munster's wig for the upcoming The Munsters reboot. The film is based on the original sitcom of the same name. The family is composed of Herman (Fred Gwynne), his wife Lily (Yvonne De Carlo), her father referred to as Grandpa (Al Lewis), their niece Marilyn (Beverly Owen, who was replaced by Pat Priest), and their son Eddie (Butch Patrick). They're the typical American family, with the exception that they're all monsters.

In an attempt to modernize the show that ran from 1964-1966, NBC planned to bring the series back under the title Mockingbird Lane. However, the pilot didn't get picked up to go to series due to the overall tone of the revival. Earlier this year, it was announced that Zombie would be working to write and direct a film adapted from the original sitcom. It's set to be released on the same date in theaters and on the streaming service, Peacock.

Zombie posted on Instagram to tease Grandpa Munster's wig for his upcoming reboot. He mentioned in the post that they're currently working on the wigs for the film. He asked in the post if his followers could guess who this particular wig is for, although he quickly noted how obvious the answer is. The comments are full of people excited to see the character brought to life. See below for Zombie's post teasing the wig:

While the character is referred to as Grandpa, his full name is Sam Dracula, Count of Transylvania. He refers to his memories of Transylvania as the "good old days." Grandpa drives two cars, one of which is referred to as DRAG-U-LA, which is also referenced in Zombie's song titled "Dragula." Given this reference, it's clear that this will be a passion project for the musician and filmmaker. The character's identity as Count Dracula has been referenced on more than one occasion over the course of the series, and it will be interesting to see how the reboot portrays him.

Zombie appears to be enjoying dropping small peeks into the production of The Munsters. So far, he has released design concepts for the house and sleeping looks for Herman and Lily. Now, he's giving followers a look into the wig styling. Grandpa's black and white hair is certainly iconic and is a good tease to hype up fans of the original series. It will be exciting to see how the wig looks on whoever will be playing the role when more concrete photos and videos are released for this reboot.
