The latest images from musician-turned-filmmaker Rob Zombie’s upcoming adaptation of The Munsters highlight two of Herman’s co-workers. The new film has teased plenty of what fans can expect from the big-screen adaptation of the short-lived 60s era sitcom, though fans still have no idea what the film’s actual plot will be. Zombie has proven himself completely devoted to the project, claiming he fought for twenty years to take it on.

When it was first released in 1964, The Munsters fared reasonably well and was certainly unique, but for whatever reason, it only managed to survive for two seasons. This could be attributed to the overwhelming popularity of the Adam West Batman series at the time, but it’s also arguable that audiences of the late 60s simply may have not been ready for such a bizarre concept as Hollywood monsters living as a suburban family. Regardless of how well the TV series fared, however, a feature film adaptation has been a long time coming, with the IP’s last feature-length theatrical release coming in 1966.

It seems that as The Munsters moves closer to its autumn release (no official date has been set as of this writing), Zombie has every intention of keeping fans informed. As a matter of fact, images of the film’s colorful cast of characters and sets have been plentiful over the past several months. Now, thanks once again to Zombie’s official Instagram account, fans have been given their latest look at two of the film’s characters. Mr. Goodbury and Mr. Graves work alongside Munsters patriarch Herman at the funeral parlor Gateman, Goodbury, and Graves. Check out the new images of Goodbury and Graves below:

Based on what’s been seen from The Munsters so far, it does look as though Zombie has really put a considerable amount of effort into nailing the spirit of the ’60s sitcom. Having built a musical career infused with horror iconography, Zombie’s shift to filmmaking in the genre was something of a no-brainer. Unfortunately, despite his love for all things horror-related, Zombie’s filmmaking career hasn’t exactly been a roaring success. With seven feature films to his credit (The Munsters being his eighth), the closest the 57-year-old horror enthusiast has come to box office success was his 2007 reboot of Halloween.

Despite past issues with his work, audiences could very well find The Munsters worth their time. Zombie has maintained a keen eye for detail throughout the film’s production and one look at Mr. Goodbury and Mr. Graves highlights this fact. If the film’s secondary characters can be this well-realized in terms of appearance, The Munsters will at the very least be a visually entertaining experience. As for how its plot will unfold and whether or not it will connect with audiences? Only time will tell.
