The Munsters writer/director Rob Zombie shares the first look at Richard Brake's new character in the film, a mad scientist from Transylvania. Originally created by Allan Burns and Chris Hayward, the 1960s sitcom followed Frankenstein's monster as he lives under the name Herman Munster and lives the life of an average American with his vampiric wife Lily, her father Grandpa, their teenage niece Marilyn and their werewolf-like son Eddie. Much like ABC's The Addams Family, the series served as a satire of both the idyllic suburban lifestyle and the era of classic monster films.

Multiple attempts to reboot The Munsters have occurred in the years since its cancelation, which stemmed from low ratings from the competition of Adam West's Batman series. After a failed film project by the Wayans family and a remake pilot from Hannibal creator Bryan Fuller, it was confirmed earlier this year that Rob Zombie had been tapped to write and direct the film reboot for a Peacock release. Filming on The Munsters officially kicked off over the summer and now new teases from the set are coming from the writer/director himself.

The reveal of Richard Brake joining the cast of The Munsters is sure to come as an exciting development for fans of the star and Zombie. The two have previously worked together multiple times over the past decade, beginning with Zombie's Halloween II and most recently seeing the two reunite for 3 From Hell, the third installment in the Firefly trilogy that began with House of 1000 Corpses and The Devil's Rejects. Brake's character in The Munsters looks and sounds to be the perfect fit for the film's horror-comedy aesthetic, as well as a potential formidable antagonist to the titular family.

Additionally, the reveal of the new character for The Munsters brings some interesting teases of the film's tone and visual aesthetic. Where prior set photos from Zombie of the film's cast have seemingly pointed towards the film being shot in black-and-white, the photo of Brake offers a clear look at a colorful set, indicating the film will be shot in color or may use a combination of both. With approximately a year still to go until The Munsters' arrival, audiences will have to keep their eyes peeled on social media for more teases from Zombie about what to expect from the reboot.
