Rob Zombie’s latest low-budget horror movie 3 From Hell will stream exclusively on the home for streaming horror, Shudder. The AMC-owned service has seen its profile rise as of late, with some key acquisitions in both film and television, not to mention its own original series, a reboot of the Stephen King and George Romero anthology classic Creepshow. The latter earned the service its biggest numbers since its launch in 2016, as 54 percent of subscribers have already viewed an episode of the new series.

The service also recently played host to the hit U.K. supernatural romance A Discovery of Witches, an adaptation of the All Souls novels by Deborah Harkness, starring Matthew Goode and Theresa Palmer, and plans to continue The Last Drive-In with host Joe Bob Briggs, including a holiday-themed special,’Joe Bob’s Red Christmas,’ on December 13. And while Shudder is making a name for itself as a place for streaming horror television, it’s also a top spot for genre fans to get their movie fix. Current Shudder exclusives include the demented Nicolas Cage vehicle Mandy, as well as the critically acclaimed Revenge, Bezelbuth, and Tigers Are Not Afraid.

In a recent release, the streamer announced it has acquired the exclusive streaming rights to Rob Zombie’s latest, 3 From Hell. The demented story of the Firefly clan was unleashed in theaters in September, where it performed well in the specialty market. Though, like most films of this ilk, 3 From Hell will likely find a new life and possible cult status when it can be streamed directly into viewers’ homes. That seems to be the thinking for Shudder, as general manager Craig Engler mentioned in his statement about the film’s acquisition.

Sid Haig in 3 From Hell

"After more than 10 years, Rob Zombie has delivered. 3 From Hell has the grit, blood and bite we’d expect from a highly anticipated sequel to the crucial Devil’s Rejects. As we were with Zombie’s 31, Shudder is thrilled to shock and shake our members with the return of the Fireflies.”

It would shocking to see Zombie’s latest head to any other streaming service, so while Shudder’s acquisition isn’t necessarily surprising it does mean horror fans will continue to have a reliable repository for the kinds of movies they can’t get enough of. To that end, though 3 From Hell didn’t necessarily light up the box office it does have the kind of name recognition and horror clout that will likely go a long way in helping the undecided make up their mind with regard to getting a subscription to Shudder. And for those who need a little extra incentive, the service is offering 31 percent off an annual subscription through October 31.
