Riverdale season 6 has officially cast actress Caroline Day as Heather, Cheryl Blossom's past love. Ever since its initial premiere on The CW in January 2017, Riverdale has been extremely popular amongst audiences and critics alike, with many praising the show for its wild and unpredictable plotlines. Deadline announces Caroline Day (Billions) has been cast on Riverdale in the recurring role of Heather, a previously mentioned character that had a romance with Cheryl Blossom (Madelaine Petsch) in their childhoods. The character is a librarian residing in the neighboring town of Greendale with whom Cheryl reconnects, only to discover that Heather may hold some answers to her emerging powers. Whilst Day's role is recurring, it has been described as 'heavily recurring' with plans for her to debut before the end of season 6.
Whilst the character of Heather took until season 6 to make an appearance, the character has been mentioned as early as Riverdale season 2 back in 2018. Mentions of her past with Cheryl were the driving force for the strained relationship between Petsch's character and her overbearing mother, Penelope Blossom (Nathalie Boltt). Ever since, Riverdale fans have consistently laid out theories on how Heather could make her return to the show, even believing that she could cause some friction between Cheryl and ex-girlfriend Toni Topaz (Vanessa Morgan).
With this Riverdale season 6 casting news, it appears that so many questions previously posed by audiences about Cheryl's mystery relationship of the past will be answered, all the while relating to present-day storylines. Furthermore, since Heather now resides in Greendale and holds some secret about Cheryl's powers, this begs the question: Could she possibly be involved with Sabrina Spellman and her coven of witches? Answers are finally on the way, so Riverdale fans won't have to debate them for much longer.
