The premiere of Riverdale season 5 part 2 has been delayed until August. The CW's mystery-horror teen drama is a dark reinterpretation of the Archie comics series that places its main characters in a gritty town plagued by crime and corruption. Season 5 premiered in January 2021 after pandemic-related filming restrictions changed the production schedule, forcing the show to resume its season 4 storyline at the beginning of the following season.

Deadline reports that the release of Riverdale season 5 part 2 has been delayed a month from its originally scheduled date, July 7. The final episodes are now set to air beginning August 11 at 8 p.m. Eastern Time. There are at least nine episodes left in the season, which will wrap up in October unless the network plans to draw out Riverdale season 5 through the end of the year.

Featured KJ Apa Drops Time Jump Hints For Riverdale Season 5

The show has taken a mid-season hiatus every season except the first, but this extension means a break of over four months for viewers after the mid-season finale aired at the end of March. Riverdale season 5 sees the gang graduate from students to teachers at their former high school as the show undergoes a seven-year time jump. The jump is arguably the biggest shake-up to happen to a show known for its constant shake-ups, but after seven years, the town of Riverdale remains rife with mind-bending mysteries.

Riverdale stars KJ Apa (Archie Andrews), Cole Sprouse (Jughead Jones), Camila Mendes (Veronica Lodge), Lili Reinhart (Betty Cooper), Vanessa Morgan (Toni Topaz), and Madelaine Petsch (Cheryl Blossom). Two members of the large ensemble cast did not return for season 5: Skeet Ulrich, who played Jughead's father FP Jones, and Marisol Nichols, who played Veronica's mother Hermione Lodge. Erinn Westbrook and Chris Mason joined season 5 as Pop's daughter Tabitha Tate and Chad Gekko, Veronica's husband.
