Mädchen Amick offers another look at the upcoming second season of Riverdale with a brand new set photo. While 2017 has already proven to be a stellar year for television, there are few new series that managed to be quite the breakout hits that Riverdale did. Originally just an unexpected adaptation of the long-running Archie comics, the Greg Berlanti-produced series wound up being one of the more distinct additions to the increasingly competitive television lineup. And as such, the anticipation surrounding Riverdale's already announced second season is high, as viewers look forward to seeing if the series can manage to maintain its popularity for the second season in a row.

Fortunately, Riverdale's first season finale concluded with a number of startling cliffhangers, that have left burning questions in the minds of fans ever since. So it doesn't come as much of a surprise then that Riverdale's second season has been covered in a heavy veil of secrecy up until this point, even as production on the season's first episode concluded last week.

While very little is still known about the show's second season, two characters that are shaping up to be some of its more integral players are Betty (Lili Reinhart) and Alice Cooper (Mädchen Amick). And through her official Twitter account recently, Amick has shared a brand new photo of her and Reinhart together, while filming a scene inside of the set of Pop's Chock'lit Shoppe. Check out the photo for yourself down below:

At first, it seemed like Alice Cooper was just going to be nothing more than a constant antagonist and abusive presence in Betty's life, especially as she continued to intervene and try to rule over her daughter's life throughout the first half of the season. But within its last few episodes, Riverdale added more and more layers to not only Alice but also her relationship with Betty and her other children, something that may have been unexpected, but turned out to be surprisingly satisfying and emotional on a character level.

Even more interestingly, the backstory of the Cooper family wound up tying directly into the murder mystery at the heart of the show's first season. And with Alice doing everything she can to keep her family together - even as the continually changing landscape of Riverdale threatens to tear them apart - her role in the season is an exciting one to think about, especially with the introduction of a new evil in the town. Combining that with Betty's efforts to maintain her relationship with Jughead Jones (Cole Sprouse), and the two central women of the Cooper family could very well emerge as some of the biggest power players in Riverdale's second season.
