CW's Riverdale tried to paint a picture of American suburbia with swirling undercurrents of darkness, but it also revealed the economic gaps in the system. The financial status of Riverdale's residents was always poles apart - some of the town's inhabitants were generationally rich, while some languished on the edges of town in abject poverty.

The Southsiders, especially, were ghettoized and left to fend for themselves. The Northsiders still had a dominant middle class, but apart from a few monopolizers like the Blossoms and Lodges, the main characters of the show spoke about their money troubles often. The little town was no picture of economic prowess.

Jughead Jones

Jughead says he's a weirdo in Riverdale

The legacy Serpent struggled a lot financially, specifically because FP Jones fell into alcoholism and crime and neglected his family completely. He was thrown out of Fred's construction company and had no income at all. Gladys had left with Jellybean, and Jughead was rendered homeless for quite a while because of this. He spent these days working at the Twilight Drive-In and even slept there.

Sadly, Jughead's wealth didn't improve in season 5 of Riverdale, seven years after the time jump. He did become a critically acclaimed writer, but he wasted his money away on drugs and partying, leaving him in debt and being chased by loan sharks.

Kevin Keller

As a student, Kevin wasn't too well off, but he wasn't lacking either. His father was a public servant, and even though Sheriffs at Riverdale weren't paid handsomely, they were paid better than most other jobs in the small town. His mother worked in the Navy, so she obviously brought in a tidy sum to the household as well, before she found out about Tom's affair with Mayor McCoy.

Kevin later went to a prestigious college like Carnegie Mellon, which must have also cost a pretty penny. It's unknown whether he paid for that or his father did. After the time jump, he stayed in the same amount of green as before, but perhaps earned less than he wanted as a teacher in crumbling Riverdale High.

Archie Andrews

Archie's family was comfortably middle-class, but they had to penny-pinch a few times too. Fred owned his own construction business, which flourished for a while before it started reporting losses, but he owned their home in Riverdale. Archie's mother also worked as a lawyer, who makes a decent living, and she had a separate household in Chicago. She had to return when Fred, a character who left Riverdale too soon, passed.

The divorce and failing business did lower Archie's net worth, but he went on to become a Sergeant in the army, which has endless benefits, if not the most competitive pay. Mary had sold their family home for a tidy sum, but Archie also reclaimed the property from Ghoulies, which upped his portfolio a fair bit.

Toni Topaz

As a child, Toni grew up poor, like most other Southsiders. Her people were not treated well by the founders of the town, but she used her grit and courage to rise up and make a good living for herself. Seven years after high school got done, she was the co-owner of the Whyte Wyrm, owner of a trucking company, and a guidance counselor at the school.

Additionally, she was also crowned Serpent Queen, which gave her immense power as well as finances. Had Riverdale not been on the brink of collapse, Toni would have been far richer, but her assets were in the failing town which put her further down the list.

Betty Cooper

The golden girl of Riverdale had many sad moments in her life, but Betty never had to worry about money. Her parents owned The Riverdale Register, which was the only source of news in the town. They had a monopoly over the media, which would make them quite wealthy. The home they owned also would have had great market value. Alice was also recruited by the FBI, which would have paid her well.

After the time jump, Betty too worked as a federal agent, which meant that she also took a hefty sum to the bank each month. Overall, the Coopers were quite wealthy, and by extension so was Betty.

Reggie Mantle

Reggie was born into a moderately affluent family. Marty owned a luxury cars dealership, which had several branches across the country. Reggie, himself had a knack for making money, whether it was by dealing Jingle Jangle, helping with La Bonne Nuit, getting involved in a tickling ring, or becoming Hiram Lodge's henchman.

In season 5, he was Hiram's right-hand man for everything - creating chaos, as well as cleaning up his messes. Somebody in his position, and employed by the richest Lodge, would be compensated more than fairly.

Cheryl Blossom

Cheryl Blossom came from very old money - a product of ancestral hard work and entrepreneurship. Maple syrup was like currency in Riverdale, and the Blossoms owned all the maple trees and processing factories for the same. Her high fashion choices and a childhood spent in various country clubs signified a life well-lived.

In fact, when Cheryl burnt down Thornhill, which didn't make any sense, they had an alternative manor, Thistlehouse, to go and reside in. The poor management of the company by her father led to the loss of a lot of their income and savings, but the Blossoms continued to be one of the oldest, wealthiest families in Riverdale.

Veronica Lodge

Whether it was his mob connections, Hiram's various business ventures, or his fraudulent dealings - they made Veronica Lodge the richest kid in Riverdale. The décor in her home itself was worth thousands of dollars (read: Glamergé eggs), and her wardrobe was even more. She was wealthy in New York, which meant that that money translated to a lot more in a small American town.

Apart from generational riches, Veronica owned La Bonne Nuit, and later Pop's Chock'lit Shop. She had started her own rum business as well, which was no mean feat. She paid for Archie's father's medical bills at the drop of a hat and had done so many times in the past. Veronica even grew up to be rich with her jewelry side hustle - in fact, she earned more than her husband.
