WARNING: The following contains spoilers for Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.

The Clone Wars creator Dave Filoni is hinting that Ahsoka may not be dead following her voice cameo in Stars Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. As the culminating film of the Skywalker saga, the J.J. Abrams-directed flick featured several references to previous narratives directly linked to the movie's narrative. That includes the voices of prominent Jedi that came before Rey such as Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill), Yoda (Frank Oz), Obi-Wan Kenobi (Sir Alec Guinness/Ewan McGregor), Anakin Skywalker (Hayden Christensen), Kanan Jarrus (Freddie Prinze Jr.), Mace Windu (Samuel L. Jackson), as well as Ahsoka (Ashley Eckstein).

Fans were obviously thrilled with this cameo considering that they've long pushed for the character's big screen debut. While there's no physical appearance from her, it was enough for her most loyal followers to be ecstatic. However, with all the voices featured in the aforementioned scene came from a confirmed dead Jedi, it's assumed that Ahsoka also passed on before the events of The Rise of Skywalker. That may not be the case if Filoni's latest social media post is to be believed.

Taking it to his official Instagram account, Filoni wished his followers a Happy Holidays with an illustration of Ahsoka conversing with Lord of the Rings' Gandalf who tells the Jedi that everyone thought he was dead too. There's no dialogue provided for Ahsoka, but it's a clear implication that the she may not be gone which excited a lot of fans. Check out the image below:

Filoni teasing Ahsoka's status is nothing new. After her fate became uncertain during Star Wars Rebels season 2 finale titled "Twilight of the Apprentice," rumbles about whether she lived or not began. The series creator leaned on the fan chatter by fanning rumor flames by wearing his infamous "Ahsoka Lives" shirt during 2017's Star Wars Celebration. Lo and behold, she's revealed to be alive on the Disney XD's final season as she and Ghost Crew's Sabine go on a mission to locate Ezra whose whereabouts continue to be a mystery. There's no official word yet regarding the pair's adventure, but Filoni has also teased about their futures with another illustration.

Filoni is a master of teases; he's known to cleverly spin his words to ramp up enthusiasm and for the most part, he eventually delivers. With the Rebels and Clone Wars creator has now transitioned to live-action by directing two episodes (and writing one) of The Mandalorian, it's curious if his latest tease is an indication that a proper Ahsoka Tano show is in the works with him at the helm. A project like this is much more feasible with Disney+ now offering streaming service. The question is, if this project ultimately comes to fruition, does it mean that it will be set after the events of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker? Filoni hinting Ahsoka's alive is non-bearing if it means that it will tackle her adventures in the past. In any case, if an Ahsoka show does come in any form, fans will be nothing but ecstatic about it.
