With box office successes like Toy Story and Shrek, Pixar and DreamWorks are widely considered to be the big boys on the animated block. They had better start watching their backs though as the upstart in town, Blue Sky Studios, is building a solid reputation with audiences and the industry.
Today we have five new posters for Blue Sky Studios' latest offering, Rio featuring Blu and his friends - each one is bright, colorful, and fun – everything children (and a few adults) look for in a movie.
Blue Sky Studios first emerged onto the scene with their most successful and popular franchise Ice Age but they have also done well with Robots and Dr. Seuss’ Horton Hears a Who. Their latest offering Rio – a story about a tropical macaw that is afraid to fly - looks set to enjoy the same success as their previous films.
Birds, monkeys, dogs and more birds – all can be seen in poster-form below:

"Blu is a rare species of blue macaw resident at a bookstore in Minnesota, who is the last of his kind. When scientists learn that another macaw was spotted in South America, and that the macaw, Jewel, is female, they take him out of Minnesota and send him to Rio de Janeiro to meet her. While there, he learns to confront his fear of flying in order to win her heart. Along the way, they get kidnapped by Fernando to sell them to get a fortune. After they escape, they try to avoid the thieves with help from Rafael, a wise Toucan, Luiz, a chainsaw "professional" bulldog, Linda, Blu's owner, a redhead bird and a small yellow canary, and also avoid the theives' pet cockatoo, Nigel."
Rio is being directed by Blue Sky Studio veteran Carlos Saldanha (Ice Age 1, 2 and 3) and was written by Don Rhymer (Surf’s Up). Lending their voices for the film is the all-star cast of Jesse Eisenberg (Blu), Anne Hathaway (Jewel), Tracy Morgan (Luiz), George Lopez (Bobo the Toucan), Leslie Mann (Linda), Jemaine Clement (Nigel), as well as Jamie Foxx and the Black Eyed Peas musician will.i.am.
Rio flaps its animated wings in theaters April 15th, 2011.
