New images from The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power reveal a new look at Celebrimbor, the creator of the three Elven rings, and tease his connection to Sauron. Based on author J. R. R. Tolkien's iconic The Lord of the Rings novels, Prime Video's The Rings of Power will bring audiences back once more to Middle-earth. Taking place in the Second Age, several hundred years before the events of Peter Jackson's beloved trilogy, the upcoming series chronicles the creation of the titular rings of power and the evil brewing deep in Middle-earth.

The trailer for The Rings of Power teases some of what is to come in the new series, including a closer look at both new and returning characters. First seen in Jackson's Lord of the Rings trilogy, characters like Elrond and Galadriel return in the highly-anticipated series, albeit much younger. New Elven, Human, Dwarf, and Hobbit-like characters will also be a main focus. At an estimated $1 billion for 5 seasons, The Rings of Power's budget makes it one of the most expensive series ever made, and it is said to feature epic action, sprawling practical sets, and impressive visual effects, although it remains to be seen how the show compares to Jackson's original trilogy in that regard.

In a string of images from Fandom, a new look at a character with strong Lord of the Rings connections has been revealed. Celebrimbor, the regal Elf responsible for creating the three Elven rings of power, is the focus of the new images. The tweets tease that the Elf, played by Charles Edwards, is key to keeping the rings out of Sauron's grasp and that the character will play a large role in Elrond's courting of the Dwarves. Although Celebrimbor isn't seen in Jackson's original The Lord of the Rings trilogy, the character evidently plays a crucial role in The Rings of Power and what eventually comes to pass in Middle-earth. In addition to creating the actual Elven rings, Celebrimbor also represents one of the first lines of defense when it comes to keeping them away from the series' central villain, the all-powerful Sauron. Much in the same way Game of Thrones deals heavily with political alliances between regional groups, Edwards' comment hints that hints his character will also be an important political figure when it comes to the relationship between Elves and Dwarves, two groups with a historically contentious dynamic.

The creators of The Rings of Power have maintained that they are attempting to make a series that feels distinct from The Lord of the Rings trilogy, but the presence of characters like Galadriel, Elrond, Celebrimbor, and Sauron are sure to allow for some interesting connections between the show and Jackson's trilogy. It remains to be seen how Celebrimbor's creation of the rings and his political maneuvering with the Dwarves will impact the Elves of Eregion and Middle-earth as a whole, but The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power is evidently keen on showing audiences complex characters and settings in a way that feels both familiar and fresh at the same time.
