In a new post from Prime Video UK, a trailer for The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power finale teases that Sauron's identity will be revealed in the upcoming episode. The short teaser presents 6 possible candidates for the big bad, including Adar (Joseph Mawle), Celebrimbor (Charles Edwards), Gil-galad (Mark Ferguson), Halbrand (Charlie Vickers), the Stranger (Daniel Weyman), and the mysterious white-cloaked figure who has not yet been named in the show.

Who Is Sauron In The Rings Of Power?

The latest trailer for The Rings of Power presents several surprising Sauron possibilities, with Celebrimbor and Gil-galad not previously being under any suspicion. Despite their inclusion in the trailer, it still seems relatively unlikely that either Elf will end up being the Dark Lord of Mordor simply due to the important roles each character plays in Tolkien's source material and the significant departure that would be from the established lore. While it also seems unlikely that Adar is Sauron given his backstory that's been established in recent episodes, Halbrand, the Stranger, and the white-cloaked figure are certainly strong candidates.

The major front-runner right now for Sauron definitely seems to be Halbrand. The human King of the Southlands clearly has a mysterious dark side that has not yet been revealed, but many have also theorized that he could eventually become the Witch-king of Angmar after the forging of the Rings of Power. With Sauron already confirmed to play a significant role in The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power season 2, the upcoming reveal in the finale will surely have big repercussions and will set the stage for future conflicts as the show progresses.
