The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power star Morfydd Clark teases that Galadriel will be a changed Elf in season 2. Based on the beloved novels by author J.R.R. Tolkien, The Rings of Power season 1 was released on Prime Video last summer, earning mostly positive reviews from critics but a more mixed reception from audiences. Clark plays a central role in the show as Elven warrior Galadriel, a character previous played by Cate Blanchett in Peter Jackson's The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit trilogies.

In a recent interview with Vanity Fair, Clark teases that the stern, prickly, and revenge-driven Galadriel featured in season 1 may give way to a softer version of the character in The Rings of Power season 2. Although she was stricken with grief and a desire for vengeance over the death of her brother, Finrod, in season 1, it seems like Galadriel will learn to let more of the world in around her in season 2, instead of shutting everything out. Check out Clark's full comment below:

I need to take a deep breath before I do this because I get panicked. [Laughs] So last season I think that her grief was so intense, her sadness was so huge. I think when you are in those points of ultimate lows, you do end up becoming self-obsessed. You can’t see anything beyond this haze of misery.

And now that has started to clear. Hopefully, with that she’s rediscovering the beauty of life and what she was really trying to protect the whole time beyond herself. That’s something I just love about Tolkien: You need to be connected to the world and those around you.

Galadriel is singularly focused in The Rings of Power season 1, seeking to vengeance against the forces of evil that caused the death of her brothers. She encounters Halbrand (Charlie Vickers) early on in her quest, and the two eventually become unlikely companions. The Rings of Power season 1 finale, however, reveals that Halbrand is actually Sauron in disguise, and the Dark Lord even attempts to recruit her to rule Middle-earth by his side.

Galadriel, of course, rejects Sauron's offer, but the revelation does provide an interesting complication to Galadriel's journey heading into The Rings of Power season 2. Notably, she doesn't tell the other elves about Sauron, even though Elrond (Robert Aramayo) does suspect that she's hiding something from him. Clark has already teased that season 2 will see Galadriel questioning her decision in the finale to keep her new Sauron information private.

Season 1 also makes mention of Galdriel's husband, Celeborn, whom Galadriel believes is dead. Celeborn, of course, as Tolkien's books make clear, is not actually dead, and it's possible that a reunion is on the cards in either The Rings of Power season 2 or beyond. It remains to be seen exactly how Galadriel will continue to evolve in The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power season 2, but Clark's comment affirms that the Elven warrior will lighten up a little bit moving forward.
