Bringing audiences back into the world of Middle-earth, Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power introduces fans to some exciting new characters as well as a few they already know. And these characters are brought to life by an impressive cast that audiences will follow on this epic adventure.

While the cast is largely made up of new faces, fans will likely recognize many of these actors from their previous roles. From popular sitcoms to underrated indie movies to other big franchises, fans can get more familiar with the cast of The Rings of Power.

Markella Kavenagh - My First Summer (2020)

Among the many new characters in this world is Nori (Markella Kavenagh), the Harfoot. Unlike the more cautious members of her community, Nori lives for adventure, but it is her kind heart that leads her to help a mysterious stranger who falls from the sky.

Kavenagh is a young Australian actor who is still in the early years of her career. However, she has already managed to capture some people's attention with her role in the small indie coming-of-age story, My First Summer. Kavenagh plays a reclusive girl who forms a loving bond with a local teen while hiding away from the world.

Benjamin Walker - Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter (2012)

The show returns to the realm of the elves in Tolkien's mythology with High King Gil-galad (Benjamin Walker) as the highest in command. Though he is a respected and stoic leader, he also blinds himself to the dangers that still lurk out in the world.

Walker found his first Hollywood leading role in the wild supernatural action movie Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter. The actor plays the titular character in the movie, which reimagines the iconic United States president as one of the great vampire hunters, taking out supernatural threats in America's history.

Charles Edwards - The Crown (2016-)

Another key Elf in the story is Lord Celebrimbor (Charles Edwards), a legendary smith. Fans of the Lord of the Rings lore will know Celebrimbor's name as one of the elves who helped to forge the rings of power so he certainly has a significant part to play in the story ahead.

Edwards has appeared in a number of notable projects, but fans might recognize him best as Martin Charterteris in The Crown. Martin is the Private Secretary to Queen Elizabeth II and after being played by Harry Hadden-Paton, Edwards took over the role in the show's third season.

Charlie Vickers - Medici (2016-2019)

There are several intriguing and mysterious characters in the show as well, including one from the race of humans named Halbrand (Charlie Vickers). He is introduced among a band of survivors of a shipwreck that Galadriel meets along her journey.

Vickers starred in another sweeping and epic series, though this one was based in history. Medici tells the story of the Medici family in Florence during the 15th century. Vickers joined the second season as Guglielmo Pazzi, a son in a rival family.

Nazanin Boniadi - How I Met Your Mother (2005-2014)

Another of the human characters in Rings of Power is Bronwyn (Nazanin Boniadi). She is a healer who forms a connection with an Elf warrior despite there being tension between the two races. She joins him to explore the darkness spreading in their lands.

Boniadi has appeared in a number of high-profile television roles, but one of her most popular would be as a side character in How I Met You Mother. She plays Nora, a friend of Robin's who begins a relationship with Barney, which complicates things for everyone.

Owain Arthur - The One And Only Ivan (2020)

The Dwarves are among the most popular and entertaining characters in Tolkien's world and Prince Durin IV (Owain Arthur) takes center stage among them. He is a strong-headed and powerful leader who shares a long and complicated friendship with Elrond.

Arthur has not appeared in starring roles in many projects, but fans may recognize him for his role in the Disney live-action adaptation of the children's book, The One and Only Ivan. The movie tells the story of a gorilla planning to escape captivity and Arthur appears as Castello, the security guard.

Ismael Cruz Cordova - The Mandalorian (2019-)

One of the most interesting aspects introduced in the first episodes is the conflict between the Elves and the humans. Arondir (Ismael Cruz Cordova) finds himself directly in the middle of this conflict as a soldier policing the remaining humans while also hiding his feelings for Bronwyn.

Lord of the Rings is not the only huge franchise Cordova has stepped into as he has also appeared in the Star Wars franchise. Cordova appeared in one of the best episodes of The Mandalorian as Qin, a prisoner who shares a checkered past with Mando and double-crosses him on a mission.

Daniel Weyman - Gentleman Jack (2019-2022)

One of the most intriguing characters in the series is currently only known as The Stranger (Daniel Weyman). He is a seemingly very powerful being who has fallen from the skies and is lost in this apparently new world he finds himself in.

Weyman is likely best known to fans for his recurring role in the acclaimed series Gentleman Jack. Set in the 1830s, it tells the story of trailblazing lesbian landowner and industrialist Anne Lister. Weyman plays Dr. Kenny, the local doctor.

Robert Aramayo - Game Of Thrones (2011-2019)

Elrond is a character who Lord of the Rings fans will surely know. Hugo Weaving played the older version of the powerful Elf leader in Peter Jackson's trilogy. This younger version (Robert Aramayo) shows him to be an intelligent and noble member of the Elf community seeking to do his part to make Middle-earth better.

Aramayo has the distinction of appearing in two of the biggest fantasy franchises of all time. He appeared in several episodes of Game of Thrones as its most honorable character, young Ned Stark.

Morfydd Clark - Saint Maud (2019)

Though the show is a large ensemble, Galadriel (Morfydd Clark) seems to be the main focus of the story. Cate Blanchett played the older version of the character in the trilogy movies but here fans see her as a brave Elf warrior driven by her need to vanquish Sauron at all costs.

Like many in the cast, Rings of Power marks the first high-profile Hollywood role for Clark. However, she gained a lot of attention for her lead performance in the horror movie, Saint Maud.
