Vin Diesel said that the screenplay for Riddick 4: Furya is finished and that the filming will be taking place in Australia. Diesel is an action star who has become most known for his role as Dominic Toretto in the Fast & Furious franchise. However, one of his biggest roles in pop culture has involved him lending his voice to the CGI-created Guardian of Galaxy, Groot, from the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). While it has been quite some time since the last installment of the series, he also starred as the antihero, Riddick, across The Chronicles of Riddick.

This sci-fi action franchise started in 2000 with Pitch Black, which is set in the 28th century and sees a ship end up on a planet infested with monsters that only hunt at night. They soon discover that a month-long eclipse is about to start. This ultimately spawned two sequels, an animated movie, two video games, and two novelizations. There has been circulation of some information on a fourth film over the last few years. David Twohy (Pitch Black) will direct from a screenplay he wrote alongside Jim and Ken Wheat. The plot follows Riddick as he discovers his home planet, but he now must face the horrors in store for him there.

Games Radar interviewed Diesel to talk about F9, but still managed to get some information about Riddick 4: Furya from him. He confirmed that the screenplay is completed and expressed his satisfaction with the finished product. Diesel said that the plan is to film in Australia. Read on below to see what he had to say about the next installment:

[Director] David Twohy, he wrote a great script. It's just a matter of timing when we get that opportunity to shoot that. But I believe we're shooting that in Australia. And it would be the fourth chapter in that series, which would be awesome...the [movie's] script is already written. So it's safe to say that we are moving towards filming the fourth chapter of Riddick.

Vin Diesel teases a new Riddick video game

Diesel has a lot of projects on the way, even when excluding Riddick 4: FuryaF9 is proving to be incredibly healthy at the box office. Meanwhile, he is expected to be starring in Avatar 2, voicing an ARK animated series, and lending his voice as Groot for The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. The first entry in the Chronicles of Riddick franchise remains to be a cult classic. Seeing Diesel return to that role would be a good separation from the Fast & Furious series for him, even though there are supposed to be two more entries set to film back-to-back.

While the details on Riddick 4: Furya are still a bit thin, it is assuring that it is now confirmed that the screenplay is completed, along with a filming location. There is also some talk about another Riddick video game to be released. Between the two announcements from Diesel, it is clear that there has been a lot of movement on Riddick 4: Furya since the previous details on the series. Stay tuned for more details as they are released.
