Ricky Gervais & Stephen Merchant Unveil New TV Series

Comedic geniuses Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant have announced that they are, once again, entering the television arena with a new series to air on BBC Two. The series, entitled Life's Too Short, will star everyone’s favorite Leprechaun in the hood, Warwick Davis.

As Gervais describes the show:

“It's about his life - the life of a showbiz dwarf. He plays himself, we play ourselves, it's sort of like Curb Your Enthusiasm."

The series, much like Extras, will be a 30-minute observational comedy centering on the day-to-day life of actor Warwick Davis. With Davis taking the lead, Gervais and Merchant have confirmed that they will have minor reoccurring roles.

Gervais, never missing a beat, says:

"We're having so much fun working with Warwick. Pound for pound he is one of the funniest men I know."

As a self-described Anglophile, I can’t get enough of Gervais and Merchant. That being said, the series does sounds like a rehash of their previous series, Extras, which was also described as “sort of like Curb Your Enthusiasm.”

However, there is certainly plenty of comedic potential in having Davis, Gervais and Merchant playing themselves. Especially with Davis starring in some of the most iconic films from the 80s and 90s: Willow, Leprechaun (don’t forget Leprechaun 4: in Space) and Return of the Jedi.

My only requirements to watch are that they somehow include Karl Pilkington in the mix - and there has to be a scene where someone says to Davis, “Out of the way, Peck.”

"Lep in the Hood, come to do no good"

Other than that, I see no reason why Life’s Too Short won’t be a success. HBO is currently in development to bring the series to America.

Now, I better start preparing myself for only having 13 episodes of another wonderful another Gervais, Merchant TV Show.

What do you think of Life’s Too Short? Will it be another hit for the comedic duo? Do you think Warwick Davis will be able to handle the comedy?

Expect to see Life’s Too Short in the coming months on BBC Two.
