Rick and Morty needs to use its new biggest villain in its upcoming episodes, as not doing so would potentially be a missed opportunity. The latest episode of Adult Swim’s Rick and Morty season 5, “Rickdependence Spray,” introduced a ginormous, seemingly superpowered incest baby, created from Morty’s genetically enhanced super-sized sperm “Sticky” and Summer’s enlarged ova. While the sheer concept of this incest child is terrifying, to say the least, this character is bound to return and wreck some amount of havoc in the near future of the franchise.
This is especially apparent in the post-credits scene concerning the baby in question, who is currently floating aimlessly in space and terrorizing anything in its path. A lone astronaut is seen making repairs on a satellite while remarking about the abject solitude of space, when the baby appears and grabs the astronaut, with Richard Strauss’ Also sprach Zarathustra playing in the background. While it is still unclear as to how the baby is going to return as a villain, this storyline repeats a theme from Rick and Morty season 1.
Something similar happens in season 1, episode 7, “Raising Gazorpazorp,” in which Morty Jr. was conceived by Morty and a Gazorpian sex robot named Gwendolyn. While Morty attempts to prevent his son from following the naturally violent and destructive path he is meant to follow due to his Gazorpian genetics, he ends up controlling Morty Jr. and further pushing him away. Having grown at an alarming rate, Morty Jr. goes on a rampage, only to be moved by his father’s words and channeling his rage into writing, which manifests in an autobiography called “My Horrible Father.” While Morty Jr. does not evolve into a villain per se, his intense hatred of Morty, along with his darkly cynical view of his childhood, imbues the series with an unstated feeling of heaviness. However, when it comes to the ginormous incest baby, the implications of its existence are tremendous, and could very well usher in the end of various dimensions.
This is more than a theory: a leaked Rick and Morty season 5 episode, “Gotron Jerrysis Rickvangelion,” brings back Morty's offspring. Apparently, the baby has been dubbed Naruto, presumably after the protagonist of the namesake anime series, who will be playing a seminal role in the family’s giant robot adventure teased in the season's trailer. While details of the leaked episode appear to point at the fact that the Smiths will be relying upon Naruto to escape a potentially dangerous situation, it is likely that the existence of this baby will backfire somehow in the near future.
Keeping this in mind, it will indeed be interesting to witness how Naruto, or the incest baby, is reintroduced in “Gotron Jerrysis Rickvangelion,” and how audiences react to this development. Will something horrific occur down the line, urging Naruto to lash out due to feelings of loneliness and abandonment? It is interesting to note that the same feelings trigger the actions of Evil Morty, whose grand plan seems to still be in motion. Will Naruto and Evil Morty join forces in Rick and Morty, attempting to uproot the cause of their pain?
