Here's how Rick brought down the Galactic Federation on Rick And Morty, but will they make a comeback? Dan Harmon had already created one beloved sitcom with Community, which ran for six seasons - though he was famously ousted as showrunner from season 4 before returning for later series. Harmon co-created Rick And Morty with Justin Roiland - who also voices the title duo - and the show follows alcoholic genius scientist Rick Sanchez and his meek grandson Morty.

The series charts their galaxy hopping adventures, with other family members occasionally tagging along. It didn't take long for Rick And Morty to gain a rabid following after it debuted in 2013, and its now one of the most popular animated shows in the world. Season 4 finished up in 2020, and there should be around six more seasons to follow. That said, individual series famously take a long time to produce, so it could be some time before Rick And Morty season 5 arrives.

Rick And Morty has created an insane amount of lore for itself over the years, with the Galactic Federation serving as something of a background threat until the end of season 2. The Federation ruled over much of the universe, with Rick and his close pal Birdperson having served as rebels fighting against their oppressive control in the past. When the latter is marrying Summer's friend Tammy in the season 2 finale, it's revealed the wedding was really a trap set by the Federation to capture Rick, Birdperson and other rebels.

While Rick seemingly turned himself at the end of the season, Rick And Morty season 3 episode "The Rickshank Rickdemption" sees him play a long con that destroys the Galactic Federation. He kills - quite literally - two birds with one stone by teleporting The Citadel Of Ricks right into Galactic Federation space, and while the various evil Ricks and Mortys are busy fighting the Gromflomites forces, Rick himself uses the chaos to set Federation's Blemflarck currency from one to zero.

This causes the Galactic Federation President to kill himself, while the Gromflomites fight amongst themselves and withdraw from Earth. While that seemed to be the end for the Federation, Rick And Morty season 4 finale "Star Mort Rickturn of the Jerri" reveals Tammy is working with remaining forces who declare themselves - rather unimaginatively - The New Galactic Federation. Since the episode itself is inspired the franchise they somewhat resemble the First Order introduced in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, but they lack the power and control of the original organization and are easily bested by Rick and his family again, so for the time being they don't pose a major threat.
