What can fans expect from Rick And Morty season 4 and when will it arrive? Rick And Morty quickly became a cult smash when season 1 premiered on Adult Swim back in 2013. The setup follows an alcoholic scientist named Rick Sanchez as he drags his naïve grandson Morty into frequently horrifying adventures that span space and time. The show also features a more traditional sitcom setup, with Rick sharing a house with his daughter Beth, her husband Jerry and granddaughter Summer.

Rick And Morty has become a beloved show to fans, spawning numerous catchphrases and memes. The show works as both a sci-fi adventure and a dark comedy, with Rick himself being a nihilistic genius who thinks about himself first and the safety of others a distant second. There was a long gap between seasons 2 and 3 and fans have already been warned that Rick And Morty season 4 could also take a little while to assemble.

Rick And Morty Has Been Renewed For 70 Episodes

Interdimensional Cable 2 Rick and Morty

The cult of the series only seems to spread wider, so it’s little wonder Adult Swim not only greenlit Rick And Morty season 4 but renewed the show for a further 70 episodes. This would bring the total episode count north of 100, though the exact number of seasons hasn’t been broken down yet. There’s also a chance season 4 could run longer than the traditional 10-episode arc, with co-creator Dan Harmon suggesting a smoother production process on the new season could mean more episodes. He previously aimed for 14 episodes on season 3 but fell short.

Adult Swim hasn’t revealed an air date for Rick And Morty season 4 yet. Fans had to wait two years for season 3 to arrive due to production delays, with Dan Harmon admitting this was caused by his perfectionism. Both he and co-creator Justin Roiland (who also voices both Rick and Morty) have vowed the wait for Rick And Morty season 4 won’t be so long, though producer Ryan Ridley predicted the next season won’t arrive before late 2019.

The show did warn fans about this, with season 3’s post-credit scene featuring Mr. Poopybutthole telling viewers there would be a long wait until season 4.
